and asked (told) him, "Couldn't you have taken this to the grave with you?"

Rep King clearly thinks that loyalty to the office holder is more important than loyalty to the constitution. A shining example of pure authoritarianism. To many on the right, institutions are just a vehicle for the exercise of personal power.
