:wow:

UPDATE: Fox News just released a new poll (.pdf) today and look at what it found:

The Democratic Congress is more popular with Republicans than with Democrats. And that doesn't even include yesterday's events, so I'm sure the Democratic Congress will become even more popular among Republicans.

And can you blame Republicans? If I were a hard-core Bush follower -- such as him or him, praising the "compromise" bill -- I would have a huge poster of Steny Hoyer or Rahm Emanuel on my wall. Unconditional, endless funding of the war. Warrantless eavesdropping. A stop to lawsuits examining Bush lawbreaking. Telecom immunity. What more could a Bush follower ask for? As Kit Bond put it: "the White House got a better deal than they even had hoped to get" -- a deal they tried but were unable to get when the Congress was controlled by Bill Frist and Denny Hastert.

1. With their constant kowtowing to the rethuglican agenda is it any wonder?
...They're a bunch of spineless, pink-tutu wearing, war-enabling, Constitution-shredding, compliant, petty, pathetic, grovelling bunch of wankers and they bring nothing but SHAME on the party and the country they are supposed to represent...

5. You can do MUCH more damage to the Constitution with two parties...
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 04:39 PM by Junkdrawer
than you can with one.

Some say that 2006 proved the the "Diebold Scare" was just a conspiracy theory.

I've always maintained that it proves that the Diebolding of our democracy is much further along than most suspect.

6. I had a hunch that they had to let the Dems win; otherwise, the rigging becomes too obvious.
Edited on Fri Jun-20-08 06:17 PM by Selatius
I figured I'd flesh out the hunch and said that the Dems should win at least one chamber of Congress and that at a later date they would be rendered in the minority again. The only obstacle to that would be something that makes Dems look really bad. That would be the pretext to them losing power once again through vote rigging. The conventional wisdom would be that Dems lost because of their own incompetence, not because of vote rigging.

Of course, the Dems won both chambers of Congress, yet they have essentially capitulated to the White House on the major confrontations. One wonders if the New Democratic Coalition and the Blue Dog Coalition as well as the top leadership of the party are somehow complicit.
