I think the Mayan apocalypse is upon us here in Northern California!
Apparently we've got over 1000 fires burning in the state, and more lightning in the forecast.

Even the Salt Lake Fire Department can't save us! :o

1. Offer up some human sacrifices.
Only Chac can prevent forest fires.

Virgins in Northern California!

I kid, I kid.

As a former NorCal citizen myself, I love that land and its people dearly. Best wishes to you all, and especially for your heroic firefighters. :patriot:

Edit 'cuz I've been in the sun too much today, and apparently can no longer write coherently, even when cracking cheap jokes.

3. Pretty amazing, isn't it?
And it's just the beginning of fire season. The air is nasty too.
Must be awful for you, working outside.

5. The air quality was better south of Red Bluff
Here in Redding it's just THICK on the ground. I went outside for a few minutes and now I have a sore throat. :(

Oh, well. Be sure you send them back when things dry out here. For once, we're not the world's biggest tinderbox.

6. What's REALLY weird is, down here in SoCal, we have no action at all.
And we got through that entire week of temps 105-115 with no action. I feel cheated.

I gotta say though, 80 has been our hottest temp so far!

Or was that over in Arrowhead.

20. There were visible flames on the Fawnskin side of the lake, behind the town
But for the most part, the fire burned from Butler Peak east to west. No fire here on the south side of the lake.

Driving down the 330 from Running Springs makes ya want to cry though. They got it the worst and most of the hillsides are barren now. Looks like a moonscape.

(I don't hit people)

13. I love northern California.
I hope this is over for you soon. We get lots of wild fires up here, too, and they're devastating to the air quality, even if life and property aren't at risk.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed as there is a fire burning north of here. Fortunately the scorching hot weather we had last week has cooled off and some fog is coming in. I hope you guys get some weather relief too.
