Dick Armey sez "we should just forget about this whole mess" with Libbey and Cheney
and "let it lie in its rotten, sordid grave." He said this on NPR ona one of the talk shows I listened to on the way home from the grocery store. Seemed to think that it's no biggie.

10. Gee DICK you didn't seem to have that attitude about Clinton and a Blow Job!
See what happens when you guys get caought up in vindictivness Pay back is a bitch.

THis has nothing to do with the Libby thing but I thought it was very clever:

"Iranians are fighting the Americans in Iraq so they don't have to fight them on the streets of Tehran"

12. These republicans making these asinine comments on the seriousness
of this case must not realize those comments will come back and bite them in the arse? Does Kay Baily Hutchison ring a bell? Remember what she said about lying under oath?

13. I agree
After all, this didn't involve something really serious, like Libby giving Cheney a blowjob.

Not that we know of, anyway.

14. Yeah. Like the Repubs forgot about the Constitution.
And Iraq. And Torture. And flag-draped coffins. And Katrina. And warrantless wiretapping. And all the other lovely topics. Selective memory and forgetfulness is a bitch, ain't it!

15. Of course he did. That's their usual response.

No big deal. Let's move on. Look over there; something SHINY!!

He would be much more credible if he had said the same thing about Clinton's blow job. Oh, how the rule of the law meant something then!

16. If Libby had been a witness to a murder in the White House
If Dick Cheney, George Bush, or some other official had murdered someone, and if Libby had been the only percipient witness to the crime, he could have lied about what he saw, obstructed the investigation, contradicted himself repeatedly, received millions of dollars in contribution from top Republicans to his legal defense fund, planned on getting a pardon, and allowed the murderer to walk off completely free.

Whether it's something as cut and dry as murder or something with political implications like leaking the name of a critic's wife's CIA identity, it's still covering up, committing perjury, and obstructing justice.

If we just "forget about this whole mess" as Dick Armey proposes, and if we allow Libby to have received millions in legal defense funds, do minimal time in prison, and end up receiving a pardon while we aren't paying attention anymore, we are encouraging every future administration in office in the United States to violate any law they want whatsoever, to murder, to defraud, to lie, to steal billions, to rape, to extort or to commit any crime they want including treason and be able to walk away with a U.S. Presidential pardon.

Instead, we should be relentless in criticizing what happened and continually warning about the bad example a pardon of Libby would set for the way governmental business is conducted in this country.
