Condi Rice: "The United States Government didn’t forge a letter"

http://www.state.gov/secretary/rm/2008/08/107992.htm

<snip>

QUESTION: Madame Secretary, as you know, there’s a new book by Ron Suskind, which says that the White House ordered the CIA to falsify intelligence about Iraq’s ties to al-Qaida. Is it possible the U.S. Government forged a letter from Iraq’s intelligence chief to Saddam Hussein?

SECRETARY RICE: The United States Government didn’t forge a letter -- the White House in which I was working. And I think that --

QUESTION: And they didn’t direct --

SECRETARY RICE: And I think the people who he – as I understand it, the people that he quotes as being sources for that have denied it.

QUESTION: And so you think it’s impossible that such a letter was created?

SECRETARY RICE: Look, the United States – the White House was not going to ask somebody to forge a letter on something of this importance.

QUESTION: And so you believe it did not occur?

SECRETARY RICE: It did not occur. The intelligence might have been wrong; that’s now clear.

QUESTION: Right.

4. Hm. Twice she specifies 'The White House' did not write it or request it.
Sounds like she backs off from saying 'the United States Government'.

A non-denial denial if ever there was one.

5. "the White House was not going to ask somebody to forge a letter on something of this importance"
They only forge documents on thing of less importance???

Non-denials are always sooooo transparent!!!

SECRETARY RICE: The United States Government didn’t forge a letter -- the White House in which I was working. And I think that --

She sure backed up the bus a ton!

"So, who forged the letter, if not the White House in which you worked?" should be the follow-up question.

SECRETARY RICE: "... the White House was not going to ask somebody to forge ...."

"So, did they ORDER it then?

6. So then Ms Rice, would it be safe to assume the White House
has been using every tool at it's disposal to find out who DID forge said letter?

7. Two answers that kind of puzzles me are:
1. Does this means that they would have forged a letter? Any letter?

Look, the United States – the White House was not going to ask somebody to forge a letter on something of this importance.

2. So, is there a possibility that the intelligence is right?

It did not occur. The intelligence might have been wrong; that’s now clear.

Just asking?!?!

Ms Lies in Circles.

"It did not occur. The intelligence might have been wrong; that’s now clear."

What's clear?
Clear that the intelligence WAS wrong or
Clear that it MIGHT HAVE BEEN wrong.

Give us a break and remove that complicit lady out of there.

If there were a contest, which one would be the most 'lieingist'? State, Pentagon, Intelligence, FDA, FCC. EPA. Under Cheney/PNAC regime.

12. "The intelligence might have been wrong; that’s now clear."
This angers me. The United States had 15 intelligence agencies before 9/11. Why do these bozos keep telling us "the intelligence was wrong." Really? 15 US intelligence agencies got the intel wrong? Horseshit, Condi!!! The intel was correct--YOU got it wrong!

The 16 Intelligence Agencies of the United States

Air Force Intelligence
Army Intelligence
Central Intelligence Agency
Coast Guard Intelligence
Defense Intelligence Agency
Department of Energy
Department of Homeland Security (post 9/11)
Department of State
Department of the Treasury
Drug Enforcement Administration
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Marine Corps Intelligence
National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency
National Reconnaissance Office
National Security Agency
Navy Intelligence

Edited on Thu Aug-07-08 11:36 AM by MissWaverly
Read the Dark Side, Rice and Powell were left out of the loop on everything, Cheney believed that the only way to protect the prez was to compartmentalize everything under his subordinates. So which White House was the one where you didn't work Condi? Could it have been the Office of the Vice President? This is the same as I didn't reveal the name of Valerie Plame when the speaker said it was the wife of Joseph Wilson. What about the White House Iraq Study Group, what was their role in this?

How to speak Condi:

When Condi Says

"The United States Government didn't forge a letter"

Condi Means

"The White House directed the CIA to forge a letter, and the CIA told us to go fuck ourselves."
