Yes, I'm disappointed in Edwards, and that he's not really an option now given what has transpired. I *wanted* to trust him and his message for change that resonated a lot to me.
But the one thing we need to make sure that the M$M and others don't use Edwards problems as an excuse to say something like:
"You see! That's what you get when you vote for someone who takes the stances like he did!"
What Edwards did in his private life and what he campaigned strongly on (fighting against poverty, for decent health care, and to get rid of corporate ownership over our government) are two DIFFERENT things! I like the latter of him, and the former I think he has a lot to answer to America for!
What we need to keep demanding of Obama and whoever he gets as his VP is to keep with those principles that many of us wanted from Edwards, and continue to want from Obama and his administration. Let's not let the wingnuts and the media try to say that those still running should now run "different" campaigns than Edwards did to distance themselves away from his problems now. If the report from one other thread that Feingold is being looked at strongly, then my faith will be restored a lot more.
One thing I do feel a little better about though, is that this incident is likely why he pulled out so suddenly before super Tuesday, and hopefully less likely some other form of pressure from the corporatists or the like to keep his agenda from getting more support nationally. I have no doubt that we'll still need to fight the DLC on many things, but perhaps it isn't as "sinister" as it might have seemed at the time.
