New Right-Wing meme: Obama is the "extremely radical, pro-homosexual" candidate.....
from the American Family Association's OneNewsNow "news" service:

Obama -- the pro-'gay' candidate
Jeff Johnson - OneNewsNow - 8/11/2008 10:35:00 AM

According to at least one political analyst, Barack Obama has gone farther in supporting the homosexual agenda than any other presidential candidate in history.

Peter LaBarbera, founder of Republicans for Family Values, says a recent letter from the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee to a homosexual activist group confirms the extremism of his positions.

"He advocates the full repeal of DOMA, which goes farther than Hillary Clinton, who only recommended repealing part of the Defense of Marriage Act," note LaBarbera. "He's talking about opening up the military to homosexuality in a time of war. He's talking about 'gay' adoption -- putting children in homes that are intentionally fatherless or intentionally motherless, and using the White House bully pulpit to do that."

On August 1, Obama responded to an inquiry from the pro-homosexual Family Equality Council, pledging in a letter his support for "LGBT families" -- lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender. He also congratulated homosexual couples that have recently "married" in California and Massachusetts.

According to LaBarbera, "that makes Obama...the first presidential candidate to actually support homosexual marriage. When you're congratulating homosexuals for their supposed marriage, that's being for and celebrating homosexual marriage," he emphasizes.

LaBarbera hopes Obama's candor about his positions will awaken conservatives who may be considering sitting out the November elections.

Says LaBarbera: "I think the central question of this election is this: Can Barack Obama take these extremely radical, pro-homosexual positions and, yet, still pull the wool over the eyes of enough American Evangelicals to win the election?"

4. Who will be the next to die because criminals are in the White House?
Death is the number one friend of republicans. Just ask any republican if they could kill a progressive and get away with it, would they? Killing is the solution to all problems for republicans. The majority of republicans think liberals are traitors. The criminal in the White House has neglectfully killed hundreds of thousands of individuals. :dem:

5. Insult of the Week
They are looking at losing the election by a 127 vote margin in the Electoral College.

It will be a new insult a week until the election. How tiresome.

Or, is McCain rolling out the homo-phobic attack because Myers forced Obama to take the commercial off the air?

9. I think this particular attack has lost its sting
Too may people, including die-hard fundies, have gay friends, coworkers, sons, daughers and admired celebrities. Leaving the closet has been the best thing gays have ever accomplished, and they all owe a debt of gratitude to those brave souls who led the way in the 70s and 80s. The big, bad homo bogeyman just doesn't square with the image of Jim and Bob down the street, who walk their dogs in the evenings and bring hot-dish to potlucks just like anyone.

15. Yup
Back in the 1970s I had my own prejudices. Then, in the later part of that decade, my best friend from junior high told me he was gay. He was still just Tim to me - a good friend and a thoroughly decent human being - and my prejudices evaporated on the spot. Sadly, I heard that he passed away from AIDS in the early 1990s. Once you actually know gays or lesbians as friends, neighbors and co-workers, there's no real "difference" and they are just folks who deserve every single right and privilege, including marriage, that straight people take for granted. To hell with the bullshit bigotry of the religiously insane. Hell, I'll be gay for Rachel Maddow any day!

12. Everything they are saying Obama advocates for are already
legal, gays are in the military, they do adopt, and they can marry and none of those things are whats wrong with America now. How does this make Obama an exteme radical? So he's advocated for getting rid of DOMA and don't ask don't tell and helping with gay rights will have no effect on America's problems for Evangelicals.

I guess all I'm saying is it's time they minded their own business and started voting to correct America's problems instead of their precieved doom..

19. But I thought he was a celebrity
and he was the scary black man that was going to steal white women away!? I was waiting for the "Call me Barack!" ad with an attractive young white woman.

Shouldn't this be reassuring to all insecure white males that the black man won't steal white women away? I guess I'm just confused.
