8. I don't like it either. can't put my finger on what tho.
maybe the composition
or that some proportions are off -
generally amateurish looking.

9. Barack's arms are crossed over his chest, which is a defensive gesture.

Then to have him gaze into the distance (presumably America's future) makes him look spaced out rather than visionary.

And the heroic golden shadow Abraham Lincoln casts over Obama and the child as if to send them forth to do his will in our troubled world - well, that's just plain silly because it's playing straight into the stereotype of idolatry, the Messiah worship his all-too-gullible followers are constantly accused of.

Not to say the painter is untalented. I just wouldn't want this particular portrait to make the rounds.
