John Wayne Republicans, Mr Peepers Democrats? HA!
So, McCain actually leads Obama on national security concerns? It keeps amazing me how people manage to believe the myth that Republicans are good at national defense and Democrats are squeamish about it. After all, it was Democrat FDR who got us into WWII, and Democrat Harry Truman who got us into Korea. Republican Dwight Eisenhower then retreated from Korea, abandoning half of it to the Communists. Democrats JFK and Lyndon Johnson got us into Vietnam. Republican Richard Nixon retreated from Vietnam, abandoning half of it to the Communists. Republican Ronald Reagan took our marines out of Lebanon after they were attacked. OK, sure, Republican Bush the elder got us into Kuwait/Iraq, but then Democrat Bill Clinton got us into Somalia and the Balkans. Republican Bush the younger pulled our troops out of Saudi Arabia after bin Laden said he would keep attacking us if we didn’t leave, then hid his retreat behind his “Mission Accomplished” banner and his blithering rhetoric about firm resolve and steadfast determination.

So this huge lie about John Wayne Republicans and Mr Peepers Democrats was one of the biggest snow jobs in recent times. History snorts in derision at this silly myth. And that should be the end of it. Trouble is, though, like racism, crazy beliefs can have far more staying power than any kind of sense would consider possible. Feisty former NYC mayor Ed Koch stumped for Bush in 2004. Though he said he disagreed with Bush on every economic and social point, he believed Bush would, in some magical-thinking sort of way, protect us from terrorist attack, and, Koch said, eyes creepily bugging out, “Nothing else matters!” Besides his shocking, total, blubbering surrender after a single sucker punch, made shamefully clear by his comment, Koch’s cowering-in-a-hidey-hole projection of godlike powers onto Bush dramatically demonstrates pure wishful thinking, disregard of history and reality,-thoroughly eerie irrationality.

Quite an accomplishment by the right, turning so many Americans a bit insane like that. Don’t you think it’s time for us to stop being so stupid?

2. FDR didn't "get us" into WWII
The Japanese and Germans did that.

But I'd agree that yes, it's time for Americans to stop being so stupid and quit idolizing gutless brainless RW bullies who talk big but always overestimate the size of their dick stick.
