Rep Obey votes NAY to IWR
http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2002/roll455.xml

Maybe we should be attacking those who voted for the war??? Those with a R next to their name?

1. I've said this a thousand times today. Obey is right, but he doesn't have to be an asshole.
Is that so hard to fathom?

Why did he have to suggest they smoke dope, or call them idiots?

He's right. He's on the correct side. And he's an asshole.

4. shes walking the halls trying to work whoever will listen.
so she doesnt know some things about how congress works. shes just one person trying to do what she can.

he was out of line. its his very well-paid job to be civil and he has to practice it all day long with those psychos on the other side of the aisle so he should be good at it.
he could have well explained his position without blowing up.

5. She is the same as the Bible thumpers who thought they owed
Bush and Congress who won thanks to their votes and were mad when their wishes did not become the law of the land.

Ours is a Republic. We elected representatives and once they are there, it is their decision (more or less).

But for her and for Sheehan to demand that their wishes be enacted, immediately, well, the topic is different but the method is the same as Dobson and Perkins and the rest of them.

3. We're all assholes up here in the frozen-tundra part of WI.
It just goes with the territory. That's how we ended up here--our ancestors were driven into this Godforsaken part of the world by all the normal people who couldn't stand our type.

7. He started out just fine
when they refused to listen and get a grasp of political reality he lost his cool. He sounds quite normal to me. I would have walked away from them much sooner than he did.

9. And that's been my point most of the day. He blew his cool.
I know the guy is a good guy. I know he's frustrated, we all are.

But he handled this VERY poorly. Suggesting they smoke dope, and calling them idiots.... Unbelievable...

16. If I hadn't seen the video I would agree.
However, seeing it - he did just fine.

They would not let him go, they would not LISTEN to what he had to say. They were frustrating beyond belief.

They were rude, politically naive and after the wrong guy. Like I said I'd have left much sooner than he did.

8. How about calling it as we see
it case by case. Good for obey on the IWR but he lost his cool with Tina and I hope he apologized.

11. I heard he did apologize.
...
Not for being wrong, for being exasperated. For which I can't blame him.

12. much ado over nothing
Edited on Fri Mar-09-07 08:40 PM by mark414
just another unimportant, non-issue that people allow themselves to get all worked up over and distracted by

"the congressman called me a name!" tough shit! grow up and quit being so damn nitpicky about every little word or action - obey's a good guy, he's always been on the right side of this war, and it takes a hell of a lot more than a slim dem majority in the congress to end this awful thing. why is it that everytime anybody says anything there's always a clarion call to apologize? don't be so thin-skinned. that tina lady is an idiot, and anyone offended by this should sit down, take some deep breaths, and repeat:

"sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"
