So the Dems boycott of the FAUX debate was over a joke?
According to AOL, the Dems are mad about a "joke" (these republics and their comedy are sooo hilarious, aren't they?), that Roger Ailes made about Obama.
Read about it here:http://news.aol.com/elections/president/story/_a/democrats-cancel-fox-news-debate-over/20070310144409990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

I guess I'm out of it, and I have been working all week so I may have missed something, but is this the accepted reason why they've cancelled the debate? I thought it was for many reasons, but mostly just general sleaziness and slanted coverage by FAUX.

Anyway, please vote in their poll.

1. I am quite pleased to see Ailes for a change explaining his "jokes"

3. Well, it does make chimp look like a bumbling idiot
But that's reality, not a joke. It suggests Obama is a terrorist, though. Almost as funny as Edwards being a faggot. These repukes are hilarious.:sarcasm:

10. I don't think it makes Obama look like a terrorist...
I think it makes Bush looks like someone who doesn't know the difference between Obama and Osama.

Saying their names are similar is NOT the same as saying Obama=Osama.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Ailes, but I don't see this as being one of them.

9. While reinforcing a meme Faux has been working on for some time
This is the guy who came up with coffee and umbrellas for activists protesting Faux. Some of them accepted them, not realizing that they had a big Fox logo on them. They filmed our protest with the unwitting advertisement in it. Ailes doesn't do anything without a purpose.

5. The joke was not the real reason; Democrats raised hell with their leaders
sucking up to a republican propaganda network. Only an idiot can't see that Fox "News" is propaganda. Hannity? O'Reilly? Gibson? These people are pure right-wing republican mouthpieces.

8. I remain undecided. But I leap to defend Obama against that kind of crap.
First, they called him Osama. Then, they brought up the "Hussein" middle name, as if they wanted to see him swinging from a gallows like Saddam. Then, they pranced around his "Muslim Daddy" and how he was "educated in a madrasa" (which was not true) in Indonesia. Add to that, all the fucking Fauxwhities saying he's not 'black' enough, the nonsense about the parking tickets, it's as if they're desperate to find any picky little GOTCHA moment.

And now, this shit?

It's true that Barack Obama is on the move," Roger Ailes said. "I don't know if it's true that President Bush called Musharraf and said 'Why can't we catch this guy?"

That isn't even 'suggestive.' It's saying, Ha ha, old Obama is a 'terrist' and no different from Osama....at least that's the way the mouth-breathers would interpret it.

If the guy was going for a swipe at the stupidity of Bush (confusing Obama with Osama) it sure didn't come off that way. It's just not believable from that perspective.

And then, to stick his foot in even further, he came up with this nonsense: During his remarks, Ailes also took indirect swipes at both MoveOn.org and Edwards, saying pressure groups were now urging candidates to "only appear on those networks and venues that give them favorable coverage."

Though he didn't refer to Edwards by name, Ailes said "any candidate of either party who cannot answer direct, simple, even tough questions from any journalist runs a real risk of losing the voters."

Christ, it sounds like Dildo Really wrote that bit for him--the dire tone, the false implications, the smear by innuendo. Fuck them. Who needs them. They don't like us. They never will.

11. Exactly
FAUX is out to destroy ANY candidate we put forth no matter what, and the past has proven that playing nice will not help. It may even make it worse. In any case, it's time to try something different.

12. Are there networks which give dems favorable coverage? Who? When? Where?
I'd like to tune in such a fantastic thing...Unfortunately, after Air America I draw a total blank.

13. It ain't just Ailes crap statement.
This has been building for a while and Ailes re-circulation of the Osama-Obama dodge was just the icing on the cake. Edwards pulled out before Ailes tried to poison Obama for the 10,000 time. So does John have ESP or what?
