Howard Dean hits back at criticism about lack of attacks in speeches.
He sounds a little aggravated at the usual suspects. Well, so am I. So am I. Same old folks just keeping on hammering away, showing their sense of entitlement.

Getting old quickly, getting tiresome.

Clinton allies urge Obama to hit McCain harder

Dean does declare there is unity, though, and he compliments Hillary Clinton.

DENVER -- Top associates of former President Clinton accused Barack Obama's team of going too soft on Republican John McCain at the Democratic convention, the latest sign of continued tension between the Obama and Clinton camps at a time of supposed party unity.

Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, quickly pushed back on Tuesday. "We don't need to attack McCain" at the convention's opening events, he told a gathering of Ohio delegates. "There will be plenty of time for that."

"If this party has a message, it's done a hell of a job hiding it," former Clinton strategist James Carville told CNN after Monday's opening day.

Paul Begala, another former top Clinton aide, rebuked Tuesday night's scheduled keynote speaker for signaling his plans to go easy on McCain while playing up bipartisanship. "This isn't the Richmond Chamber of Commerce," Begala said of former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner's planned speech.

The criticisms clearly stung Dean, the former Vermont governor who is not particularly close to the Clintons. "We're going to run this convention," he told the Ohio delegates. "The Republicans are not going to run this convention, and CNN is not going to run this convention."

I have no clue if he is close to the Clintons, don't care at all. I am just sick of the same old consultants saying the usual things.

Dean said Michelle's night at the convention was not the night to hammer McCain.

We set out last night to make sure that America knew that Michelle Obama was going to be the kind of first lady that they could all be proud of, and that was a lot like them," he said in an interview. "All this stuff about McCain, and this hitting back hard enough, that's all political blah-blah."

These folks like Carville should know that anything they say now will be magnified by the media to divide us. But I guess they need the stage more than they care about winning.

1. Carville isn't hired for his brain - rather his mouth and ability to piss people off.

3. Carville has been a great assett
Edited on Tue Aug-26-08 02:53 PM by Michigan Soldier
Carville is to the Democrats what Rove is to the Republicans. Lets not bash him just yet. I do think that we should just let Dean be in charge. Cant have too many chiefs and not enough indians. Carville is a smart man though. And so is his wife (although we may have disagreements with her politics.

7. Carville tried a coup against Dean as Chair right after the election
in 2006...so let's not pretend he is on his side.

10. He even implied the Clintons and Rahm Emanuel were part of it.
It's very sad. We had just won a great victory, and they were determined Dean would get no credit for it. He was not even claiming credit. It put a damper over the election.

17. Did you know that in his "off time"....
...Carville worked to overthrow the Democraticly elected president of Venezuela, and install a Bush approved right wing government?

4. Carville blamed Dean for the 2006 election turnout
Even though the Dems had a larger win than ever experienced under Terry McAuliffe, Carville got on TV and began spewing his bile that it was all Dean's fault that the Dems didn't win even more contests.

He's a useless waste of skin, space, and gravity, as far as I'm concerned.

6. AMEN, BROTHER DR. DEAN!
I've been watching C-Span and PBS EXCLUSIVELY because
I just can't bear the "commentary" b.s. the networks
and cable are offering.

(OK, I'll admit to dipping into some MSNBC coverage,
especially to see Keith and Rachel.)

12. Carville
The "pundit" who declared after the 2006 election that Howard Dean was a "failure of Rumsfeldian proportions."

He can take his analysis and put it where the sun don't shine.

13. Both Carville and Begalia advised our previous candidate John Kerry
on how to lose. They are becoming irrelevant, and it pains them.

Yes we need to hit McSame, and we shall... starting tonight.

After all the crap those two spewed about him. They undermined Kerry, I really believe that.
