I GOT A GOLDEN TICKET!!!!

The boss gave me a ticket to Baracks speech at work last night...just as load out at our venue was starting.

He took me aside like I was in trouble. "What did you want to talk to me about?"

"Just this"...and he handed me the ticket.

The backstory:

After 5 days of round the clock shows...and facing a venue full of stuff on the final day...my crew was beat down. We loaded out the band.

Then when it comes time to load out all the decor in the building...I walk out side to see the "tech" that brought all the stuff floundering way down in the front end of his 53' trailer with no light. After working with him all day...and trying to figure out why they only sent one tech with all these couches and drapes...my boss comes out and pulls me aside (this is about 30 mins after he gave me the ticket) and tells me this guy isn't a tech. The company the tech works for (Target) is based out of Minneapolis. They had all their people in Minneapolis working on the RNC...had nobody left....

and sent a shop manager...by himself...to build all this stuff.


Here...our entire alley is filling up with his stuff...and he has no idea how to pack his truck. Well...not true. But he's just not use to packing a truck guerrilla style like we do in production.


My crew was totally deflated. 5 days straight of 8AM...until 2-4AM outs (thats not a typo). No one had complained all five days. Everybody was fantastic. But it was obvious that they were fading as the day went on. Hell...I was fading fast.


My steward actually broke down. She was just so upset. We had hours of work...and it was 2 in the morning...and the we were facing an uphill climb.

Any energy I had was from getting the ticket. And what energy I had got me up into that truck (something that I don't do anymore in my position) to help this shop manager from Minneapolis in way over his head....



and me and my crew loaded that sum bitch in 45 minutes.




Look for the guy with the fancy hat.
