Republicans play politics with hurricanes: No help for Katrina with Dem governor; but now...
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 05:20 PM by Nikki Stone1
Now that there is an election, a Republican governor and that same silly ass DINO mayor, watch the GOP fall all over itself trying to help. Call me cynical, but they let over 1,000 people die for politics last time.

Edited to get Nagin's party correct.

1. Isn't Nagin a DINO not a Puke?
that said, I think the real reason is not that they are in love with Jindall it's that they are scared pissless of NOT responding after the beating they took in 2006 after Katrina.

3. It's a pretty obvious issue.
But I guess everyone is so into spreading fake baby stories about Palin that they can't see how we're all being played again.

11. Nikki
he was/is a Republican - switched party affilation to Dem in order to run/win mayoralship.

He did not achieve, or seek, any other public office prior to his election in 2002. More controversially, Nagin had actually been a registered Republican for most of his adult life, switching to the Democrats shortly before seeking office, for which his candidacy was branded as opportunistic in the solidly Democrat city. Nagin was, at that time, a known Bush supporter, having contributed to the president’s campaign. Nagin entered the New Orleans mayoral race a political unknown but emerged through the middle of a crowded field of known Democrats, securing vital cross-party and in-party endorsements for his populist pledges to tackle city hall corruption and run the administration in a more business-like manner.

http://www.citymayors.com/mayors/new_orleans_mayor.html

and he endorsed Jindal over Blanco:

Nagin controversially endorsed conservative Republican Bobby Jindal over conservative Blue Dog Democratic Lieutenant Governor Kathleen Blanco in the 2003 runoff for governor. He only reluctantly endorsed the Democratic candidate, U.S. Senator John Kerry, in the 2004 presidential race.

5. yes. and of course they have to cancel the convention--or whatever
Edited on Sun Aug-31-08 05:20 PM by orleans
the fuck they're up to--because it would be "wrong" to party it up while people die in a hurricane.

actually, i think they were praying for an excuse to cut the convention short--BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET ANYONE TO SHOW THE FUCK UP FOR IT!

"Among the possibilities being discussed: curtailing some days or events, asking sponsors to cancel parties, or turning the event into a fund-raiser for hurricane relief efforts.

6. They're turning the convention into a telethon this time
You know if it weren't an election year, and if the governor was a Dem they would just be sitting on their hands.

7. it doesn't matter what they say...
they can't make the memories go away. I'm sure they will come up with ways to exploit this is as they've done with 9/11. Too bad they can't bomb Iran because of Gustav.

14. I don't think he will be on the scene..
I think he'll co-ordinate efforts to help those who need it. He runs his campaign on the ground, rather than through the media. It's worked this far.

13. It's a little more complicated than that - lol
I can't imagine what we'd be saying if they didn't jump all over this.

It's a lose/lose for these jokers.
