Why are the Repugs searching for another Reagan?
Holy shit, wasn't the first one bad enough? Tens of thousands of men and women have perished due to HIV/AIDS because the smarmy moralist believed they were receiving "God's punishment", and refused to fund research towards a cure at a time when it could have made a real difference. Reagan then allowed a criminal conspiracy (Iran/Contra) to operate out of the White House, a crime for which he should have been impeached, convicted, and removed from office. Oh yeah, as a young man he got Nancy Davis to dump her husband and run off with him because good old Nancy could reportedly suck the chrome off a trailer hitch. Yup, we sure need another one of him.

3. Raygun was an "attractive" (to them) empty vessel
he had no clue, especially after bush's friend's son shot him.

he was a helpless front man for the evil cabal that still runs this country.

Imho, it's that simple. They don't differentiate between leadership and Decidership. For all their whining about personal responsibility, they don't really know what that means.

They want to be led by the nose and call that "patriotism". Meanwhile, their great leader's government is bleeding them white. Oops! -- a win - win for them. :)

9. Put down the reality and step away from the Reagan.
The Conservative/Republican philosophy/political ideology is nothing more than mythology packaged in racism/sexism/bigotry. The reason the Repugs luv Reagan and are searching for another is because he could sell the illusion.

10. Reagan was a friendly face that GHWB acted behind
While Ronny had ALZ Georgie's dad wass running amok in South American and initiating PNAC's South and Central American policy while setting up regimes in the Mid East that we would then overthrow some 20 years later.

16. St. Ronnie's teflon coating was impervious.
All that interesting stuff you mentioned and much more simply evaporated with the morning dew in Conservativeland.

I have no idea why. The guy irritated me to tears for eight years. But the R's absolutely see no wrong or any shortcomings in the sainted Raygun.
