A Message from Nine Inch Nails (Trent Reznor)
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 10:14 PM by Red State Prisoner
...it was quite a surprise to get back home, turn on the television and discover we've apparently won the war in Iraq! Yeah, some woman from Alaska said so - apparently that troop surge was all we needed! That's good news, because I was starting to think all the shame and embarrassment I've felt as an American citizen traveling abroad the last few years wasn't going to pay off in the end. Now I can rest easy knowing we've successfully spread FREEDOM - AND we've stopped evildoers in their tracks.

US citizens: Nobody wants anyone preaching their opinions at them - particularly a musician - but PLEASE get involved and pay attention to what's happening during this election and try to see through the clutter to the substance of what is or isn't being said.
Wouldn't it be great to feel proud of this country for a change? Seems like it's within reach.

OK - I got it out of my system. Thanks for reading.

1. Trent is actually a really intelligent guy.
I partied with him a couple of times in high school. He wasn't the "rock star" then...he was a little different and very smart.

6. That is SO cool. Doesn't surprise me to hear you say he was smart
though. I always got that impression from him.

7. The funny part is that I didn't put it together until I saw a NIN video.
MTV or whatever was talking about "Trent Reznor" and showed a NIN video. Suddenly, I knew why the name sounded so familiar :)

12. I went to Pymatuning Valley HS in Ashtabula Co...
way before your or Trent's time. I knew Trent as keyboardist who hung out at our band's studio in Meadville, PA. The main thing to envy him for at the time was his red Fiero. It IS a small world, after all.

15. Trent was (and I suppose still is) a year or so younger than me.
We used to have parties every other weekend or so...Trent came to a couple of them. I really only got to have a long conversation with him once, the other time we were just talking in the same group of people.

Nice to hear the opposite.

I still think the best song I ever heard live was "Burn" live..they used the lighting to make it look like the whole place was on fire...

I remember that he was writing a lot of stuff, but I don't think he was playing out much.

Small world! :hi:

20. Smaller than you think...
I've bumped into a former student of mine on the DC metro...from Bulgaria.

I've met a Nigerian who knew who I was through a Nigerian collegue of mine.

That makes you really laugh when it gets that small...

Nigerians get a bad rap from those asshole spammers and from their ultra corrupt government. There are a few quite cool ones though!

3. Oh man I was at the Forum show on Saturday.
It fucking rocked. When they played "The Hand That Feeds", they used an unedited picture of Stupid Jackass as the backdrop. You should have heard the boos and seen the middle fingers that went up.

8. Oh Man!
I remember him in 2006 during the With Teeth tour and he had, again, unedited footage of the carnage in Iraq, as well as the shit that went down in N.O. during Katrina. The song was Right Where it Belongs, and the last image shown was *Bush and Laura dancing a waltz. The place went crazy, I'm in Austin, and the place boomed with the boos from the crowd. It was an awesome moment...at least to me. :)

Also, could you please provide some references showing how Trent is uninformed and kills wolves for fun?

Thanks.

29. um... that's not what I was saying..
What I meant was that Trent is the well informed musician and Palin is the uninformed wolf killer. I'd take Trent's opinions over Palin's.

It's been a rather strange day.

But I WAS correct about Ted Nugent. He'll shoot anything that moves. :)

As for Trent, he's been a head of the curve for sometime now. Very intelligent, that one. And as for Palin, I think it's safe to say Tonya Harding has more credibility at this point. :)

Met Trent in the French Quarter a few times. Kinky but nice. Had a rope burn around his neck first time I ever saw him.
