Link to Video McCain "BIG STORY" Abuse of Power LSN?

Is this the big story, Lonestarnot?

"There are lots of unanswered questions, but the basic contours of the story are clear. John McCain used his position as a Senator to help his wife abuse illegal drugs and avoid being searched by customs, and somehow his wife managed to avoid any charges by the DEA or the state (which has mandatory minimums in cases like this) on drug charges despite ample evidence. Did the DEA or the state not file charges against her because of political pressure? Did they keep this on the Federal level to avoid mandatory minimums for Cindy McCain because of political pressure from McCain? Did John McCain and/or his Senate staff tamper with a criminal investigation of his wife and her conspiracy to fraudulently obtain illegal drugs?

Whether illegal or not, and an investigation by Congress should happen, this is clearly a massive and overreaching case of both corruption on a personal sordid level and an abuse of power. And you might be seeing Gosinski on mainstream media soon.

We need an investigation into what happened here. What did McCain know about the investigation of his wife and did he use his power as a Senator to help her abuse drugs or avoid prosecution? When he was one of a hundred Senators, it was of minor importance. And now? Well it would be nice to know if the next President is engaged in behavior more characteristic of an influence peddling mob boss than an upright politician."

10. This is nothing. This guy is digging up and rehashing decade old fact.s
Unfortunately this is going to bounce right off of McCain, and gain extra criticism coming from a clearly "left" site on 9.11. Not going to be the blockbuster story it was touted as if this is indeed it.

6. Ha! I don't want all of our lives ruined by someone's addiction
I don't think the president of the country should be married to someone with such great personal demons.

Too distracting from the job, I'd think.

Digg it there -- and leave a comment, it will get more views (I think)

This may appear to be just a scandal and perhaps that is how it will go down -- but my, how jaded they've made us. this is an ABUSE of power. No one is above the law.

There are reasons for the law. It isn't some piece of toilet paper for the GOP to crap on and use against the unwashed masses. Too bad they break so many of them we can hardly keep up.

22. I don't think this will have any effect. "Poor man trying to protect his wife from shame."
George Bush himself was a certified cokehead with a string of shady dealings and intimidations.

This story fits in with the Republican worldview just fine: a man must protect the reputation of wife and family with his power. Cindy McCain has repented of her drug addiction "with God's grace." Good god, if anything this will strengthen McCain with the "romance novel" demographic. The way the Republican-minded voter will see this "The man was just protectin' his family. Why were they attacking his wife anyhow?"

This drug shit has not been fruitful in stopping Bush or Limbaugh. No more 'hypocrisy" attacks. If it's not a dead girl or a live boy it means nothing. And that dead girl better be blonde.

The Democrats have all they need against the Republicans: they have robbed the American people, sent their kids to war for personal profit, and violated the constitution of the United States. If the Democrats weren't guilty of assisting them, they'd be in a position to make real attacks on these fuckers.

The more we push "hypocrisy" the more human they look to those forgiving Christian eyes. And greedy Republicans could give a shit. The American people would like them less if they were 'cold' and 'perfect' and beyond reproach--you know 'snooty.'

25. All Gosinski says in the video is that McSame kept the case at the federal level...
Edited on Thu Sep-11-08 02:04 AM by JBoris
Seems really lame to me. He says McC abused his power after a shoulder shrug, opinion or legality? That is not made clear in the story, it only poses questions of legality, it provides no proof. The story also paints a picture of a feud between the "whistleblower" and McSame. A big "he said, he said", a big nothing.

32. Good luck investigating a 14 year old scandal
More fuel on this fire of information is a good things since people should know about it, but if it's just one guy's word then it's not going anywhere and will just be dismissed as an election-year smear. I seriously doubt this will alter anyone's vote.

40. That's a good point, but there are a few key differences
1. they lied about it
2. Kerry had already gone through that thing of throwing his medals away etc.
3. the allegations were new

On the other hand, the story about Cindy has been out for ages and hasn't had any real effect on McCain's career. Notice how W's team hit him with the 'fathered a black baby' slur in 2000 rather than the 'covered up for his wife' charge.

39. It has a sort of symmetry to Palin's Troopergate.
I think I remember him at the time, being surprised about Cindy's drug problem - saying he didn't know it was going on. The overdose story would seem to undercut that, for one thing.

Also, McCain bringing the extortion charge against Gosinski - going on the offensive against the whistleblower, that's where McC went too far I think.

Hmm... drip, drip, drip. Now I get it. Looks like there will be a series of these things until the election. I wonder too, how much effect it will have.
