Sharkwater (film)
In an effort to protect sharks, Stewart teams up with renegade conservationist Paul Watson of the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. Their unbelievable adventure together starts with a battle between the Sea Shepherd and shark poachers in Guatemala, resulting in pirate boat rammings, gunboat chases, mafia espionage, corrupt court systems and attempted murder charges, forcing them to flee for their lives.

Through it all, Stewart discovers these magnificent creatures have gone from predator to prey, and how despite surviving the earth's history of mass extinctions, they could easily be wiped out within a few years due to human greed.

Hopefully even any resident Sea Shepherd haters can agree that this is a huge issue. It started simply as a guy wanting to film sharks, to show how they aren't mindless man-killing machines, like they're usually portrayed.

Yes, I realize I'm posting this the same day a lawyer was attacked by a shark . That's kinda the point!

2. big K for Paul watson....he's really crazy--that pretty much sums it up, I guess.
I know a little bit about him, have spent a little bit of time with him when his ship was docked in Alexandria, VA.

that said, he IS committed to what he's doing, which is protecting those HELPLESS creatures who would be EXTERMINATED for GREED.

for those that don't know, he's the person who organized the first Greenpeace action to protect harp seals.

His life is fraught with controversy, and he's considered an ecoterrorist by many, but one chooses one's battles, and one sides with those with whom one sides.

I don't know if there are any archives, but the interview he did with Studs Terkel about 25 years ago on his radio show was worth listening to. I'll see if I can find any record of it.

can't find it, but here's an interview with Watson from the recent fiasco in Antartica, where the Japanese killer factory ship had an accident. it's about 49 minutes into the podcast

3. go here if you want to hear their side of the story, as in why they've
SUNK pirate whaling ships, why he went to Iceland to turn himself in for SINKING most of their whaling fleet, and they made him leave, because they were afraid of what would happen if they put him on 'trial'
