2 Observations On BS Segment From CBS Evening News With Katie Couric
CBS Evening News had a very short segment about 'the good, the bad and the ugly' in this presidential campaign.

I have 2 observations on the segment you can watch here: www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=4442899n

1)-The MSM is yet again taking the 50/50 approach to the Obama and McCain campaigns. I know, it's not surprising, but it still continues to infuriate me. They act as if both campaigns/parties are equally guilty of outright lies, smears and dirty politics when it's incredibly and *objectively* clear that .

Are the Dems angels? No. Are many of us starting to get fairly worried that the Obama campaign hasn't been nearly as tough as it could/should be? Yes. Partly because we see the other side with their effective . Even though we recognize we don't have to sink to the gutter, I do think we need to at least come down from the clouds so to speak. I think the Obama campaign would be well served to employ some or all this .

2)-On a lighter note, I think it's funny that the screen-shot in the background during the "bad" segment (where they show the bogus Palin book ban list) is of The Young Turks, especially since (Not to mention the fact that Cenk and his guest hosts never once mentioned the bogus book list, rather a couple of random people blogged about it). I guess that was supposed to counterbalance them showing earlier in the segment? I mean it makes sense considering that TYT and Fox News have about the same number of viewers and the same level of influence. ;)

PS---It's ridiculous that we have to depend on and the to hear the truth about this campaign. If we leave it to the MSM .

1. K&R "If we leave it to the MSM"
we will never be heard. I think that is why we have to scream louder and longer so they can't ignore the screams of the people.

RE: gutter politics: the democrats do not have to go to the gutter. There is so much out there that is true about McCrazy and Failin that we don't even have to get our hands dirty. Just put the truth out there. Just don't be wimpy about it.

11. That's why I support alternative media. I mean it considering I renewed my AA subscription was for
Maddow and Hartmann.

And I'm a member of TYT, etc. If enough people support alternative media it can have a real impact.

4. Considering the facts, would get in the way of CBS' Sponsors. Cash is King.
I reckon CBs Evening News is an oxymoron. I do not even watch those news shows. Reuters, BBC, Washington Post, DU, Huffington Post, and a few other places online are where I get my news. Thanks for the Post! CBS does not usually provide news, not usually. It has been more than 10 years since most TV networks have repetitively provided real news on a day in day out basis.

6. They did the book banning things without
saying that she tried to ban books. They gave the list as an example of inaccuracies but left the larger charge alone.

15. Noticed that too!
The list was bogus but the story about her wanting to ban books is still true as far as I know.

CBS made it sound as if there was nothing to it at all. Not an accident, in my opinion.

9. The "divided" meme you refer to in point #1 is my pet peeve too. We are not divided and both sides
are not equal. I listened to Family Values with an Oy Vey on supposed progressive radio last weekend and they too "went there" stating that both sides are guilty. It's simply not true and I get tired of these generalizations passing for real facts.

Good post.

10. The only answer to the question of coverage is money.
Those who can have to pony up now like never before. Dig deep, because the MSM is NOT going to play fair. We cannot have enough commercials on the air, signs in yards, bumber stickers, etc... All that takes cash.

Just saying.
