1. Galveston and Freeport are going to get it.
I hope the prediction on storm surges is wrong. Thousands of people are staying and could very well be drowned by this time tomorrow.

Those who are still there, waited too long and are stuck now. Take care, survive. No help after 9pm.

6. both galveston and freeport are inundated with water now
and the surge isnt supposed to hit til 9 pm tonight..meteorologists from the national hurricane weather office say its the worst pre-surge flooding they have ever seen in 50 yrs and could end up being the worst surge they have ever seen.

2. Oh shit
my friend Julie's elderly parents are in Beaumont ( less than 20 miles from the coast and near a major waterway-and just ahead of the eye of the storm). They refused to leave because they said it was too much of a hassle. I'm really worried for them. :scared:

5. My parents got like that after they turned 80
They said they were at the jumping off point and something was gonna do it anyway, so they'd rather stay home and comfortable than sit in a sweltering school gym on the mainland.

They gave their names and my phone number to the cops more than once, only to have the hurricane wobble far out of the way during the last 36 hours.

I hope the best for them, I hope this storm fizzles like Gustav did, although it isn't showing any signs of doing so. I just know that after people get their three score and ten, even dynamite won't budge 'em.
