There seems to be a wide divergence of opinion on the new thread rating system. If you are a Firefox user who just doesn't care for the new look, you can hide the 'ratings' column.
1) Download the
Greasemonkey extension, if you haven't already. It's a utility which enables a user to change the appearance or behavior of a webpage using Javascript. You can create these yourself or download hundreds of scripts others have created. I can't really take credit for this one, as I used another extension,
Platypus, to automate the process.
2) After installing and rebooting, install my script at
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/34408The icons may appear for a second or two upon loading a page, but they and the 'ratings' column will then disappear. I can see that there are a couple of side effects; the small 'new', 'flaming' and 'poll' icons have turned into 'X's (do we really care about those?), and the 'views' column also seems to have disappeared. I'll work on that.
If the script simply isn't working out for you, you can disable it by right-clicking on the Greasemonkey icon down in the taskbar and clicking on 'DU_Hide_Ratings' to uncheck it. Or you can select 'Manage User Scripts' and disable or uninstall it.
