When your state hates Republicans... just change your party name to GOP
Problem solved! (God, people are stupid.)

http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20080924/NEWS03/709249806

The state Democratic Party is suing to get a Republican on the ballot.

The party sued Secretary of State Sam Reed on Tuesday, saying Dino Rossi should be listed as a Republican, instead of "prefers GOP party," on the November ballot for governor.

The lawsuit, filed in King County Superior Court, argues that "allowing Mr. Rossi to obscure his true party preference and affiliation directly violates the law, would mislead a substantial portion of the voting public and would breed cynicism and mistrust in our public institutions and, indeed, in our electoral process."

Rossi is facing a rematch with Gov. Chris Gregoire, who beat him by 133 votes four years ago after three counts and a court challenge.

Under Washington's new "top two" primary system, Rossi was allowed to pick how he wanted to be identified. Local polling has shown some voter confusion about the Republican nickname GOP, an abbreviation for Grand Old Party.

A recent poll by independent pollster Stuart Elway found that Gregoire had a 10-point advantage over Republican Rossi but a 4-point advantage when Rossi was listed as GOP.

If that slimy bastard wins because of this......

2. Every damned Rossi radio and tv ad says
"Dino Rossi GOP"

Sleazy bastard. Makes me want to puke.

But GREAT ad being run against him by Gregoire. Talks about when Dino was in the state legislature, he sponsored a bill for everyone to pray that George Bush's economic plan would pass. Announcer says, well, we've seen what that got us: skyrocketing oil prices, giveaways to Wall Street fatcats, etc. Dino Rossi said we should pray for GWB's economic program. Now we all have to pray our families can recover from it.

Is that a great fucking ad or what?

3. The people who are stupid enough to not know that GOP and Republican are the same thing
...are the same stupid people who vote for Eyman initiatives and would believe the bullshit in Dino's shitty ads. in other words, they're already in the toilet for him. But it won't be enough to win.

The fact that the 'Pukes are pouring all the money into those ads is more troubling to me. That means they're going to try even harder to steal it this time.

12. Priorities, man!
Rossi's the current threat, yeah, but he doesn't deserve a quarter of the hate that Eyman does. Rossi's just a political hack, with enough of an aura of competence about him to avoid the drubbing received by the last few (R) Gov candidates. That little rat Eyman has done incredible damage to our infrastructure, and it's not even out of any sort of warped principles - He's just cynically milking a phony anti-tax populism to keep his own gravy train going.

4. Yes this is slimy
but shouldn't the average voter know that GOP and republican are the same thing?

Since the state law says Rossi was allowed to pick how he wanted to be identified, I suspect the lawsuit will fail. IMO the state Dems should therefore concentrate their money on educating voters.
