Ole Miss still plans debate: No official word of cancellation
By MICHAEL NEWSOM - mmnewsom@sunherald.com

OXFORD -- ... Marty Wiseman, executive director of the Stennis Institute of Government at Mississippi State University, said the move is a Hail Mary that potentially could either connect for McCain or lose the game. There is the risk McCain could look like he doesn't want to debate.

"We've all not wanted to take our final exams," Wiseman said ...

The following is the official statement from the University of Mississippi regarding the presidential debate: ...

"The University of Mississippi is going forward with the preparation for the debate. We are ready to host the debate, and we expect the debate to occur as planned. At present, the University has received no notification of any change in the timing or venue of the debate. We have been notified by the Commission on Presidential Debates that we are proceeding as scheduled. We will keep you posted as information becomes available."

1. old man here says: i expect nothing less
at this point in time when the public has been spoon fed a media diet
full of non-filling information, lacking in any conscious detail
of how dismal our situation has become and what will mend it
never providing more than a wall-street slogan of "here
this is your daily dose, consume and consume more,
now give us back in return your money" at
some point in the give and take
it's going to come down to
someone who is
going to
stand
alone and bare
if need be nothing more
than a voice willing to face
the need of a greater cause than what
sells and sells. At that point, after we have
been sold the sand and mistaken it for water, drunk at
the apparent fountain and found ourselves still thirsty and dry we
will forsake our predatory craving and learn to absorb in senses anew
of voices that feed and touch in inner recess, as air rushes in to bathe our
tongues sweetly, like a sight that is inhaled and exhaled into visions we have only dreamed.

Barack, you had better be there.
