Conservative writer suggests Palin drop out for the good country (based on interview performance)

It was fun while it lasted.

Palin's recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I've been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I've also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.

=====

If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself.

If Palin were a man, we'd all be guffawing, just as we do every time Joe Biden tickles the back of his throat with his toes. But because she's a woman -- and the first ever on a Republican presidential ticket -- we are reluctant to say what is painfully true.

What to do?

McCain can't repudiate his choice for running mate. He not only risks the wrath of the GOP's unforgiving base, but he invites others to second-guess his executive decision-making ability. Barack Obama faces the same problem with Biden.

Only Palin can save McCain, her party and the country she loves. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first.

Do it for your country.

1. On the one hand, i want her to stay because she is so awful but then
again, if she were actually elected, THAT would be an unmitigated disaster.

Drop Palin and pick Lieberman so he can be a 2 time loser.

2. Really, they think working it so she skips the debate is going to work?
At least there are some conservatives who aren't completely blind to her OBVIOUS GLARING shortcomings. SHE SOUNDS DUMBER THAN BUSH!!

The Freepers just always blame the interviewers and EDITORS. So it's like, well why doesn't she do LIVE interviews then if the edits "make her look bad?"

3. Heartily agreed. I couldn't watch it past the first minute.
THAT VOICE!!!! Next time I need to strip paint, I'll call up that interview and leave the house. The woman is a walking, talking caricature - which fits, since she's running with Abe "Grandpa" Simpson.

As for Lieberman, I don't think even McCain is that dense and there's no way they could convince him to resign the Senate - something I believe affected President Gore's numbers and allowed an election close enough to steal.

Finally, the snipe at Senator Biden is stupid and uncalled for. Any comparison between he and Palin ends after their status as candidates. I'd have said "human beings", but that would be far too generous to Palin.

4. At least Joe has the sense to know when he's said something that deserves a foot in the mouth
Palin can't even seem to grasp the fact that every word out of her mouth only makes her look all the more stupid

6. I thought I'd seen the worst with Dan Quayle and Dubya Bush. I didn't. She's worse.
She's more vacuous and clueless than ANYONE of my acquaintance ... and I know some pretty dumb folks.

It's Miss Teen South Carolina ... gone amok.
