McCain Campaign: "Palin Clueless", "Debate Prep Disasterous"

I haven't seen this reported on Kos yet.

But talk show host Ed Shultz is reporting on his website, that Capitol Hill sources are reporting that McCain insiders are scared shitless of Palin's upcoming debate (or shriek) holding a press conference, and would love to skip the VP debate if they could.

I believe this report. Not just because of the disasterous Katie Couric and Charles Gibson interviews. But this is one of those "inside washington facts, that everyone knows, but they're afraid to talk about. Well Ed Just published the truth (as J. Scarborough, M.Murphy and P.Buchanon echoed on Morning Joe this morning).

Too make matters worse, even The Morning Joe Crew said this morning, that Palin's interview with Katie Couric was terrible, and CBS has even more damaging video on file, that makes her look more a complete idiot, and once again, clearly showcases McCain's poor judgement.

It get's worse guys. Just keep reading. McCain's meeting was a total farce, and there's more video in the CBS vaults.

Here's the Shultz "breaking news"

Breaking News from Big Eddie:
McCain Camp insiders say Palin "clueless"
Capitol Hill sources are telling me that senior McCain people
are more than concerned about Palin. The campaign has held
a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as "disastrous." One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, "What are we going to do?" The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is "clueless."

http://www.wegoted.com/

Can you believe that? The McCain campaign held a mock debate and press conference, and she was horrible, and they asked themselves "what are we gonna do?.

The speculation I'm hearing now from various radio reporters (including Errol Lewis here in NY), is that McCain is really trying to back Palin out of her debate. The memo must be spreading.

Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanon and Mike Murphy all simultaneously, argued that Palin was not the best choice today on Morning Joe. Scarborough said:

If she can't answer basic questions, that's tough. Katie did not ask her tough questions, her questions were very fair. Apparently Katie asked her, "what's the worst thing Dick Cheney did", and she answered "Shooting his friend with the gun". Us Elections aren't a meritocracy, about picking the most qualified people, it's obvious she has very little knowledge of US facts. She may be a good person and a good governor, she has also has a high approval rating, but is this is the best person you can find for Vice President? but what does this say about Palin and McCain's judgement?

Mmmmh. That was Joe.

Former McCain campaign Manager, "Hot" Mike Murphy, said that:

Is my Mike on, Lol. Well you know Pat, I never agreed with the Palin pick in the first place. I said she's a good base pick, but this is not a base vote type of year. The McCain camp has problems, because it seems CBS has more footage, and it's not any better, then what we've seen.

They just moved down here to Texas after living in Alaska. One of them worked in the states social services, so she knows of what she speaks. I never had a worry after that.

5. Stupidity isn't bound by political party
A lot of republicans are waking up and realizing this is an untenable situation. Saying shit like that doesn't help.

17. Yes, stupidity is pretty much bound by political party.
Take a look at Iraq, the economy, Abu Gharib, and where is Osama? The republicans HATE government. They don't know how to run one, because they don't believe government should be run, except into the ground. An entire party that does NOT understand the vital importance of GOVERNMENT is pretty fucking stupid.

But there are also republican voters who are feeling betrayed. Let's get them over to our side. Never do that by calling them names.

25. I don't doubt there may be "independent minded" people who have voted
republican. But solidly republican voters...the believers...cannot, will not ever, vote for a Democrat. I live among a whole flock of 'em, and yes, they're stupid. Their mantra is that "Obama is a Muslim, and I could NEVER vote for a Muslim." They think Sarah Palin is "great", and even smarter than Kindasleezy Rice.

Stupid. Plain old stupid.

15. As I said before.
It *IS* the SNL skit. McCain/Pailin is the ultimate ongoing real-time SNL skit.

A little OT, but I've been watching Failin and wondering if she even realizes that she's in way over her head. You know, we've all had those moments, at least I have.

As a first-year debater in HS - my school was a tiny, rural and poorly funded - we went to a tournament and our first-round draw was a huge school from a very affluent district in Atlanta. That team was made up entirely of sons of lawyers (yeah, an all-male team) and they CREAMED us. I will NEVER forget how that felt as the realization crept over me. The blood rushing into my head, I thought I would faint or throw up. I wanted to cut & run. I think my team-mate probably felt the same. We stuck it out and actually scored okay considering.

I wondered as I watched Failin with Couric if she even knows.

I don't think she does.

In fact, she is in about the same position in history as Obama. Think of that. Now think of the jorney they each tool to get there. It boggles the mind, to quote Cookie Monster.

11. Wow
I watched the Couric interview, I found myself feeling sorry for her, she is too dumb to realize how dumb she is. Then I started feeling sorry for Alaska... After some thought on the matter I decided that there must have been an extreme storm on election day in Alaska and no one could get to the pools to vote so she won by default somehow, that is the thing that can explain her election.

19. They've been lowered too far
Expectations influence perception. If everyone expects Palin to do HORRIBLY, that will color our judgment, and even a mediocre performance by Palin will seem awful.

27. The thing that no one is bringing up....
Is the fact that she is a Governor, she majored in journalism in college, she was a broadcaster BEFORE her political career, and she STILL can't get through a softball interview with Katie Couric. It's like she's never met with the press before and completely blindsided by basic "job interview" styled questions. It is truly pathetic.

36. CBS really needs to air every last bit of the Couric/Palin interview
so we can judge for ourselves whether Palin's stinky performace was actually the result of an editing hatchet job. Because when I watched it, I got the distinct feeling that Palin might have come off even worse without the editing. At the end of most of her rambling, eyetwitch-inducing "answers", there would be a cut, then Couric would already be asking the next question. I can understand the need to do this once in a while to keep things moving along, but this was almost every time. It seemed to me they were either cutting out large swaths of more useless garble and long awkward silences, or Palin had to have a potty break in between each sentence. Or, maybe her stylist had to keep stepping in to reconfigure the architecture of that little beehive/bun thing Palin has going on with her hair.

I think Biden will chew her up and spit her out, but graciously. I would love to watch it, but I can imagine the McC campain folks ARE terrified of what she will say.

She is definitely not the brightest star from the northern sky.
