more posts about how bush will declare martial law. more bogus evidence of such.

it happened here in 2004. It happened here in 2006. It was inevitable that it would happen this year.

It's bullshit. It's not much likelier than an astroid hitting the earth within the next month, but the anxiety ridden and those panting for a secular end-time scenario will do their tinfoil and do their silly dance. they won't actually think about why it's so unlikely.

it's utterly predictable.

1. I hate to be among that crowd but I just keep coming back to
That they can't possibly be running these two buffoons against us unless they have a pretty big plan B, because on paper we have them beat hands down. This cartel has grabbed too much power to bet it all on McCain/Palin. Maybe the strategy is to let us win and deal with their mess. I hope that's the case because I have faith in Obama being able to at least get that process going. The other possiblities are what frighten people. A stolen election this time around that looks suspicious, and it would, more, considering the opponents, would start riots in the streets this time. I'm sure of it.

Little hard not to be paranoid with the military ignoring posse comitatus now too.

2. I think it's unlikely, too. However...
someone on Amy Goodman brought up the idea that we could soon be a very-well armed country with no economy. "Like Argentina with nukes." Actually, it might have been Krugman who said that.

Could this country seek a military solution to its financial woes??

I hadn't even thought of it before.

BTW, do you enjoy being the board scold? ;)

5. I don't like hyteria. In fact, I have a real aversion to it.
Don't think it helps anything. ever.

8. I kind of enjoy it...
Comes from having a very dull, unhysterical family, I think...

11. heh. confession time. (and I come from a family who stuck
closely to a couple of old chestnuts: "Discretion is the better part of valor" and "keep a stiff upper lip". As a kid, I did react to that... hysterically, but as I got older I reverted. And here's the weird thing: I naturally have a pretty dark view of things. How could I not? My father (in a very quiet and erudite way) was about as much of a secular end-timer as I've ever met. Nothing that happens would shock me. But I do try and use logic to guide me, and not give in to my dark view of humanity and culture.

6. Perception often runs the global shitpile...
Remember how we often talk about the danger of Pakistan devolving into chaos because they have nuclear (or nucular, as wannabe leaders refer to it) weapons? What 'perception' would the rest of the world have of a 'cratering' US with these types of weapons, and what steps might they take to 'secure' them?

just wondering...

3. I hope you're right.
But with Blackwater based out of NC I'd rather people talk about it just in case.
