My Opinion only

The DEMS should be willing to let the Bail-out die if Mc-Nuts and the GOP does not sign on in advance of any vote.

I believe they are trying to setup us up to bailout the fat-cats. Then they will have a BIG FAT talking point for the next 40 days.

We should not fall for it. Let Bush take 100% of the blame

1. As a matter of politics....
...no Democratic Senators should vote for the bill until John McCain does.

As a matter of policy, no one should vote for the bailout, period.

2. Pelosi has already said as much... I'm sure Reid is on board.
The house GOP's gambit was telegraphed from a mile away.

7. I don't think the finger-pointing GOPers are convincing many people.

This came from the WH and the Treasury Secretary. THEY claimed it was a four-alarm fire and that we had to act NOW NOW NOW!

And WaMu failing last night backs up that urgency... but the Dems got in there and got a few things added, and now the ball is in their court.

Which is why, IMO, we're seeing economists from Texas and Senator Shelby waving around pages of names -- now trying to say (A WEEK LATER) - "Wait! No! There's no emergency! WaMU? That's no big deal... "

Cause they don't want the socialization of these private assets, and that's now on the table.

They've overplayed their hand... do we soak them, or let this opportunity pass? You're right... it's tricky business... but we seem to be doing quite well so far IMO.

4. Thom Hartmann on his show warned early this week - this is a setup for the Democrats.
Rank and file Democrats are totally pissed off with this bailout.

5. That's their obvious plan.
But just as the Dems made the repubs sign on to tax increases during bush the elder's term, they will force the repubs to sign onto this as well. Dodd has already said as much.

8. If they do, the Dems need to pass a bill that helps out average people, raises the
minimum wage, and gives home owners relief and does NOTHING for Wall Street.
