CBS News Executives "Aggravated" By Letterman's Use Of Internal News Feed: Report
September 26, 2008

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
David Letterman vaulted himself into the headlines this week by mocking John McCain for canceling an appearance on his show only to show up on the CBS "Evening News" with Katie Couric. And in a classic stunt, Letterman showed the internal CBS News feed on his show to demonstrate McCain's hypocrisy.

The New York Post's Don Kaplan reports that trick didn't go over so well with CBS News executives:

Asked if CBS officials had a problem with Letterman using the internal news feed, a spokeswoman for "The Evening News" refused to address the issue.

But several CBS News executives - who asked not to be identified - said that the stunt did not go down well within the news division.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David, don't ever change.

3. Cry me a river...
McCain shouldn't have lied to advance his political agenda and CBS should not have allowed themselves or an employee of their organization to be used in that way.

4. I'm sure Dave gives a shit
He never let up on GE when he worked for NBC. He owns his own show, makes tons of money and could retire at the drop of a hat and destroy your late night ratings CBS.

Oh, that's right. Big right wing corporate media. Because Letterman told the truth, they might not get their free gifts from their favorite lobbyist this week!!:sarcasm:

9. He made a total mug of Magoo
and now that interview isn't worth what it once was. All people who watch it are going to be thinking about is Letterman's on air performance.

By the way, he's being pure Dave. He's not letting this one go. I tuned in for the first part of the show, and he's milking it for all it's worth.

10. Whoopty-doo!
I agree that CBS News should have known that McSame had bailed on Letterman. Either a) it knew and didn't care, which justified Dave's use of their internal feed, or b) the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing, which indicates a serious fuckup at CBS.

for them to complain now? :nopity:

And I bet Dave's now happy he has an excuse to go after the executives at CBS News now.
