Early released Internet Ad by McCain Camp Predicts HeWins Debate
Edited on Fri Sep-26-08 01:45 PM by maddezmom
McCain Wins Debate
Although the fate of tonight's presidential debate in Mississippi remains very much up in the air, John McCain has apparently already won it -- if you believe an Internet ad an astute reader spotted next to this piece in the online edition of the Wall Street Journal this morning.

"McCain Wins Debate!" declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: "McCain won the debate-- hands down."

Here's the screenshot.

McCain to attend debate, Web ad claims victory already
WASHINGTON - Ah the Internet world, a place where things move very quickly — maybe too quickly in the political world.

Before Republican presidential hopeful John McCain announced he would attend the presidential debate on Friday night in Mississippi, apparently an Internet advertisement slipped out onto the Wall Street Journal’s opinion page with it declaring he won the contest.

McCain spokesman Brian Rogers said the ad posting was a mistake by the Wall Street Journal. Oops.

12. Man, yesterday I told a fellow DUer that I rarely take search engines
into consideration when I post, though it is one of my daily duties to do just that in my own personal and professional endeavors. I even insinuated that posters shouldn't stop to think about how search engines will see their posts. But now, I'm rather disturbed at the title of the OP. I've also seen that phrase on http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/2008/09/mccain_wins_debate.html?nav=rss_blog">WaPo. And in at least one other post.

Quickly, http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=navclient&aq=t&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4GGLR_enUS264US264&q=Mccain+wins+debate">and surely, this phrase is getting spread the world over. Add this to the ad that ignited this fire, and you have a dumbed-down and passive public hearing it and seeing and unable to make the connection that it pre-dates the debate.

Now...I'm donning my tinfoil topper...Perhaps it was a desperate, calculated move by karl rove to confuse the sheeple just as was mcsame's financial crisis heroism has been the past couple of days.

Sidenote: Gotta counter that Palin/Couric interview somehow...

15. Or perhaps some harried campaign staffer was supposed to send that ad
buy out tomorrow and sent it today instead, like the staffer who accidentally sent the McCain talking points to the wrong email list yesterday, so that the reporters got hold of it instead.
