Does anyone have a list of the churches that will break tax laws
tomorrow? Seems 33 churches will enter the realm of politics in defiance of tax codes that prohibit churches from engaging in political discourse from the pulpit. http://www.boston.com/lifestyle/articles/2008/09/27/dont_preach_your_politics_on_me/">Here's the story.

I'd like to kmow if there is a participating church near me so I can attend to record the sermon and to practice some free speech of my own.

1. I want to attend and stand up to debate the minister.
What would Jesus do?

2. I would suggest that any DUer who knows of one of these
33 churches should attend that church tomorrow, tape the sermon (and send a copy to the IRS), and, if you are so inclined, speak up and challenge the pastor.

5. Americans United
should have some information on it. Try www.au.org. I'm just hoping Dobson's group, Haggard's, Wildmon's, Robertson's are among the abusers. Making an example out of any of those would be worth it to see what happens.

7. I know of one that prayed a few weeks back
for favor for "God's man and woman" seekng office.

I sent them a strongly worded email that was as much theology as politics. The SOBs have perverted the mission of the church IMHO.

Four years ago I reported the same church to the IRS for endorsing candidates and provided audio documentation. So far as I know nothing was ever done to investigate.

Churches - liberal and conservative - ought not to meddle in politics IMHO. And if they simply cannot resoist the temptation then they ought to surrender their tax examption rather than operate with taxpayer subsidies.
