Ex-soldier: Bin Laden was aided in escape

By Henry Cuningham
Military editor

A man who says he is a former Delta Force officer will appear Sunday on “60 Minutes” alleging that he was undermined by Afghan allies and U.S. superiors on a mission to kill Osama bin Laden in 2001. The retired Army major goes by the pseudonym of Dalton Fury in the report, which airs at 7 p.m. on CBS.

In a video clip from the segment, Fury wears a Special Operations Warrior Foundation cap and has a thick beard. He describes Afghan forces listening to bin Laden’s radio communications: “These guys, in my opinion, were more in awe of Osama bin Laden than they were willing to kill him. ... They could almost see him and feel his presence and they just stood there with wide eyes and somewhat in awe that here is the leader of the jihad ... and they’re actually hearing his voice over the radio.”

The U.S. and Afghan fighters chased bin Laden and an estimated 1,000 al-Qaida fighters into the Tora Bora Mountains, near the Pakistan border. The United States wanted to let the Afghans fight while U.S. special operations forces provided support and directed air strikes.

“The mujahedeen would go up and get into a skirmish … lose a guy or two, maybe kill an al-Qaida guy or two and then they leave … almost like it was an agreement. ... Put on a good show and then leave,” Fury says in the video.

Fury did not like the daytime frontal assaults. "We wanted to come in on the back door,” he said. Apparently, someone in the U.S. government nixed an early plan to climb the mountain from the Pakistan side and surprise the enemy.

1. It's been obvious all along that Bush promised his buddies the Bin Ladens
that he wouldn't hurt their boy. After all, his first priority after 9/11 was getting the family out of the US before they could be interrogated.

14. Well, Bin Laden may still be working for the Bushies like he did in the 80s.
He may have never stopped working for them.

But in either case, this is as surprising as hearing the sun came up this morning.

2. I have heard something about this before,
about the Special Forces having cornered bin Laden and being denied permission to kill or capture him.

It seems to have happened more than once.

5. A Special Forces team leader is not...
Promoted to a Pentagon job, working directly under Rumsfeld and answering only to Rumsfeld, for failing to capture Bin Laden, when that is his team's mission. And, this team's photo was placed in the Oval Office by Bush. Coincidence? I'd say 99.9% chance against it.

He could, and would never, tell the real story, but the look on his face said it all.

6. Kerry tried from Jan 2002 thru 2005 to get media attention for Tora Bora, especially
in his campaign speeches and every rally - too many BIGNAME DEMOCRATS sided with Bush and actually DOWNPLAYED Kerry's charge against Bush's allowing Bin Laden and AlQaeda to escape. Kerry was treated as if he was just saying it to smear Bush. When Kerry brought it up in the debates, media again would not bother to discuss it and let Gen. Tommy Franks get away with his lies - and again - NO BIGNAME DEmocrat would show up on TV and shoot the lies down. Lesser known Dems at the time like Gen. Clark, did try but they were shot down - no serious back up from ANY bigname Democrats who publicly sided WITH Bush's strategy - a strategy that we all know now was all about the cover to go into Iraq.

13. This was talked about on the DVD "9/11 Press for Truth" about the Jersey Girls
and how they basically caused the 9/11 Commission to happen. They discussed this topic of Osama Bin Laden and how the US basically allowed him to escape. Some very suspicious circumstances, considering the shit Bush was talking about how much he wanted to get the guy.

This latest 60 Minutes segment seems to totally confirm that DVD.

15. And yet, ask the average American on the street,
and they'll tell you that the Republicans are the national security party. Do they know that they let public enemy number one get away for political purposes? No. Buy they do 'know' that Obama is a muslim. Funny what gets through the filter.
