Not to turn into Andy Rooney but WHY is SNL on Thursday now?
and if this is permanent shouldn't we be calling it TNL? Doug D. Orlando, FL

1. They're only doing a little 30 minute show on Thurs.
I think it's filler and won't be permanent.

There is absolutely a Saturday show. Last night was a re-run, but they'll be back live next week.

2. Because their ratings are through the roof so they are doing these specials.
It won't be permanent. But I don't blame them; they can't pay Tina Fey enough at this point.

5. It was on Thursday, but Saturday was a rerun.
The rationale I got was "well, they can't do two live shows a week".

7. Just for the pre election Thursdays.
Weekend Update Thursday edition. I think they did this a few years ago also.
