As gusting winds of more than 60 mph drove Sesnon fire Monday, fire officials said even heavier winds were forecast for later in the night and Tuesday morning, sparking fears that the blaze could make a relentless march all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Source: Dave Malkoff

A brush fire that began near oil fields on Oat Mountain north of Porter Ranch rapidly tore through more than 5,000 acres Monday, destroying several structures and forcing many residents to flee their homes as flames marched toward neighborhoods.
