Sorry if this was posted but I found that statement stunningly elitist and arrogant. Wow

2. Seems as if McBush's 'middle-class guardianianship' isn't working...
McCain casts himself as middle-class guardian

By GLEN JOHNSON

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) -- Evoking "Joe the Plumber" near his hometown in this pivotal state, Republican John McCain on Sunday cast himself as the guardian of middle-class workers and small-business owners who fuel the economy.

"If I'm elected president, I won't raise taxes on small businesses, as Sen. (Barack) Obama proposes, and force them to cut jobs," McCain said of his Democratic opponent during a rally at the convention center. "I will keep small business taxes where they are, help them keep their costs low and let them spend their earnings to create more jobs, not send to Washington."

McCain flew to Toledo, near where "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher lives, from the state capital of Columbus amid the GOP's push for this swing state and its 20 electoral votes.

The Holland, Ohio, plumber was in New York making the media rounds with his family, but McCain has been evoking his spirit after making him the focal point the final presidential debate between McCain and Obama. McCain also mentions Wurzelbacher at his rallies after the plumber was videotaped questioning Obama about whether his tax plan would keep him from buying the two-man plumbing shop where he works.

While some analyses showed Wurzelbacher faring better under Obama's plan than McCain's, McCain has lashed out at Obama for saying that while his policies may force some to pay higher taxes, they were designed to "spread the wealth around" by targeting only families making over $250,000 annually.

more...yawn....

6. 40 years or so...
ago almost everyone was considered middle class if they were working for someone else and drew wages; now it is only small businesses. That itself is telling. John McCain thinks the middle class is only the people who have traditionally supported the Republicans. That means what? That only they are the "right" sort of people that this country should be concerned about? How un-American! :silly: Are they the only ones who should be voting?

3. On ABC, Donna Brazile, Steph and gang all said "spread the wealth" was a WINNING issue for McCain
They said it was unacceptable for Americans -- a "center-right" nation -- to tolerate "spreading the wealth" from "the people who created it" to "people who maybe don't deserve it" -- in reference to people making under $250,000. This from Donna Brazile, George Will, etc. They also said it was "welfare, and we're finally seeing that issue again"... "in a RETURN TO FORM for a McCain campaign that seemed off track."

5. oddly enough, all those people mentioned make well over $250,000
I guess they feel like they create that wealth. It's not welfare either, since all of the people getting credits under Obama's plans are working people.

11. It is the black and white issue - again
Repugs are implying that obama is going to take money from white workers and spread it around to black folks who dont pay taxes. That is why it seems to take root in middle america. It is a very dangerous tactic - for us. we need to fight this hard.....
