Wow, Canadian companies are using the financial crisis to fuck over staff
Edited on Mon Oct-20-08 04:42 PM by HEyHEY
Canada has not yet been effected by all of this shit as severly as the rest of the world. I have two friends who work for companies that have ask them to "Take a pay cut" if they want to keep their jobs. Sounds like bullshit opportunism to me. They're probably thinking, "Here's our chance!"

3. I'd like to see legislation for the next year
That says if your company asks you to take a pay cut, you can lodge a complaint and if they can't prove it's needed they can't do it.

4. unless they are union, they haven't got a place to complain.
And guess what? Quite a few folks in my area have been asked to take a pay cut. I *doubt* this is some great Canadian conspiracy.

Now if your friends were in a union, it would be another deal. But a private company? They have the choice of the cut or no job.

5. Not saying it is a conspiracy, I do think companies could use the crisis
As an easy way to weasel a savings out of people. And yes, they don't have a place to complain, which is why I think legislation needs to be inacted to make sure people don't start getting needlessly fucked over.
