Whoa! People all across the country couldn't get driver's licenses (voting IDs!) for a while Monday.
Maybe this is old news to you folks, but I haven't seen this story anywhere else:

A fiber optics cable was cut somewhere in Texas and it affected the computer systems all across the country for a few hours.

3. Here in Southern CA, you can present either your DL, CA state ID, the sample ballot they mail you,
or a utility bill with your name and address on it.

6. I've been voting in California for almost 30 years
and have never been asked for an ID when I went to the polling place or sent in my absentee ballot.

8. It might be certain areas. In the primaries I had to present ID. I showed both my DL and sample
ballot.

I always bring ID and my sample ballot anyway to the polling place. Been doing such since my first vote in 1988.

4. Really? Here it has to be a driver's license, state ID, or certain documents.
