or maybe some of both. this is the deal...
Louisiana voters were THRILLED to have a Republican to vote for who wasn't indicted or already in jail or a complete moran and so they did. I swear, for months, you never saw a 'W' sticker on a car, but people were fine with a Jindal sticker.
couple of things: he seems smart, but what you really hear when you listen to one of his press conferences (and we heard a pile of them during the latest hurricanes) is just a big long list of facts and figures as a matter of fact, that's ALL he spews it's really weird. plus he talks very, very fast! it gives some the impression that he's brilliant but it also comes off as an idiot-savant type of thing.
in addition, his website, as he ran for govenor, was scrubbed of all of the snake-handler type of religious freakazoid stuff and believe me there was plenty of it at one time
true, he was efficient and on the ball during the storms the evacuations, the response teams, etc. he doesn't take any crap from state employees and that is indeed refreshing
but i must tell you he is most definitely a religious nut and i have talked to people who work at the govenor's mansion and, according to them, his wife is a wimp in the family, and the kids railroad everyone especially unnerving is their ickiness to those in service positions at the mansion kind of a slave.master type of behavior for instance, they'll only eat, like, three things. period and will not put up with discipline from anyone also, he refuses to meet with the legislature...for any reason, at any time and they are furious with him he won't return their calls, won't listen to anything they have to say
Jindal is someone to be wary of.... anytime you have a Republican who is also a religious nut you have a scary thing to reckon with I, for one, am sick of this combination
