1. I don't think he was really in it for the money as much as the power trip.

No doubt he profited -- but IMO what really did it for him was getting to have belt buckles and cowboy boots and socks and jackets and probably underpants with the Presidential seal and everybody having to call him Mr. President and stand up whenever he came into a room. He's a sad, stupid little man who needs to have his ego stimulated more than he needs money.
