Bridge Design Flaws May Not Be as Rare As Thought

The NTSB is claiming that a design flaw brought down the 35W bridge in August 2007; that engineers who designed the bridge in the 1960s didn't do their job.

I personally think this is bullshit. I also think it is the repuke Bush administration trying to deflect the blame from repuke Governor Pawlenty, who vetoed legislation for more spending on transportation and specifically for the MN Department of Transportation.

Bridges only have a lifespan of 40-50 years, and this one was at its end. Ever since that asshole Pawlenty appointed the awful Carol Molnau to be head of MNDot, she was destroying the agency, cutting funding and jobs. I'd like to see a new investigation when President Obama appoints a new NTSB.

A bridge designed and built in the 60's, added onto beyond it's original design specifications twice over the years, has had thousands of pounds of deicing chemicals dumped on it and loaded down with tons of construction materials and equipment collapses and Bushco's NTSB deflects the blame to save your Republican Governor. Why, it's just criminal!
