Economic Summit or Vegas Stage Show?

I see these photos from this "economic" summit and all I can think, is how much money did we waste on printing the fancy medallion in the center of the photo? Or on the huge backdrop over between the columns. This, on top of the crazy high-falutin' meal at the White House last night (as mentioned by Rachel Maddow).

Is it me, or should a summit of leaders trying to figure out how to handle a global economic crisis with the potential to eclipse the Great Depression be a little more oh, I don't know subdued. You don't have to hold it in a basement on folding chairs, but there is a happy medium.
