Perle still holding out for ‘George W. Bush Square’ in Baghdad.»

In September 2003, Iraq war architect Richard Perle famously stated that the Iraqis “have been liberated” and that “a year from now, I’ll be very surprised if there is not some grand square in Baghdad that is named after President Bush.” When Perle was asked about that comment in a recent interview with Foreign Policy magazine, he wouldn’t back down, claiming that “absolutely” the Iraqis have been liberated. He even suggested there’s still a chance his dream of a square named after Bush in Baghdad can be realized:

FP: Does the rosy picture at all represent the country we see today? <…>

PERLE: Is it rosy today? Do I think most Iraqis have been liberated? Absolutely. …Obviously if it deteriorates into chaos or a new Saddam emerges and people are no better off than they were before, then there won’t be {a square named after President Bush}. …I think {Iraqis} will look back and say, we paid a terrible price, but it’s worth it.

8. My first thought too. Or maybe the Saddam H. Bush Torture Museum.
A sewage plant was my first thought, but there are other public places that would be good

Any mass grave site

The George W. Bush Abu Ghraib Torture Museum (or to be fair and balanced, it could be the Saddam H. Bush Torture Museum.)

The George Bush Fallujah Inferno Memorial

The George Bush Bombed Wedding Party Memorial (This would have to be a series of memorial sites.)

The possibilities are nearly endless.

4. Maybe the public water and power works will be named for Bush
. . . to remind people of a time when such mundane things could not be taken fro granted.

On second thought, that's not such a good idea.

Well, if it's any comfort to Mr. Perle, I doubt anything in Baghdad will named for Saddam anytime soon.

11. Maybe when they tear down Abu Ghraib
a plaque can be there about how George W. Bush continued Sadaam's tradition of torture within the walls of the notorious prison in the name of bringing democracy to Iraq, whereas Sadaam tortured people there to protect his dictatorship.

Or one that just goes around and around endlessly in a circle.
