John Edwards' former aides want him to stay in hiding
As John Edwards attempts one of the more awkward comebacks in recent political history, his former aides told The Daily Beast that they would rather see their former boss remain in exile.

"I think it would behoove Senator Edwards to continue staying out of the limelight for a longer period of time and let the country move on," said one former campaign aide.

And I was a huge Edwards guy. W/ that "thing" in his background he
still ran? Look nobody on the outside can judge a marriage or say
anybody is w/out flaws but to run with that baggage was just selfish

6.  Jeopardy , smepordy! D'you think Clinton "put the party in jeopardy" too?
What utter hogwash. I notice they didn't even publish this till he was being mentioned as VP or AG. I think AG worried the RW faction and the corporations.

The only thing he did to "place the party in jeopardy" was tackle the corporations

9. Uhh -- He ran for the nomination knowing he had a recent affair & (most likely) a baby as a result
How is that NOT putting the entire Democratic party in jeopardy? If he'd been nominated and then this blew up :nuke: ... Gawd, that infuriates me! Hello, President McCain!

I say this as someone who used to want Edwards to be the nominee because of his anti-poverty/stand-up-to-corporations platform.

I feel betrayed, because he was my guy and I trusted him.

19.  Ya got any proof about that baby? And who cares anyway? Please. What cow pucky!
I guess folks both believe what they weant to per MSM and get a kick out of being judgemental about others actions. I was a huge Edwards supporter. Still am. Who he screwed in no way invalidates his efforts on poverty and healthcare. I was never betrayed by him. Sorry you take it so personally. Elizabeth was cheated on but that is a private issue.

I was disappointed in him but if we viewed all candidates who got nooky on the side as "endangering the Party" we wouldn't have any electable candidates.

We sure wouldn't have had FDR, JFK or Clinton!

4. In all the world and with all the issues in it...
I am afraid I just cannot summon up the energy to get pissed off at John Edwards.

Some things are better left to the immediate players.

7. John Edwards just shows to go you that
even very smart people make bad decisions.

I've made a few bad ones myself - but not on THAT scale!

8. People fuck up their personal lives. What's the big deal?
Yeah, we dodged a bullet there - but its only our prudish culture that has a problem with people being human

10. To me the affair is not the point ... It's the potential fallout from it if he had been nominated.

14. Yes - it sucks
But it didn't happen

Clinon ran with Genifer Flowers allegations hot on his tail, and he still survived

People need to get over themselves

20. Actually, during the campaign, he didn't. He said there had been
"problems in their marriage and it was personal and they had dealt with it". Which is probablly what Edwards would have done.

11. John Edwards is on my permanent shit list
I stuck with him until the last minute.

The fact that he was willing to continue his campaign in spite of the evidence of his relationship with Rielle Hunter literally jeopardized the chances of electing a Democrat to the Presidency.

I'm sorry I ever supported the guy.
