"Shrub's" last shot and the Dems are falling for it, if you can call
Pelosi a real Democrat. Billions for the Banks and nothing for the auto industry means if they force them to file bankruptcy they can break the UAW contracts. Like, why was there no representation of the workers at the Congressional hearing ?

=================================================

(United Auto Workers President Ron) Gettelfinger, who testified on Tuesday and Wednesday to U.S. congressional committees in support of the loans, said he would not comment on a possible compromise bill reached by Democratic and Republican senators until details were known.

When told that one detail might be that the automakers would have to provide a strategic plan to get access to the money, Gettelfinger said he would support that.

During his testimony, Gettelfinger said General Motors Corp (GM.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) had the most pressing need for support, followed by Chrysler LLC, which is owned by Cerberus Capital CBS.UL, and then Ford Motor Co (F.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz).

On Thursday, Gettelfinger said the Bush administration and lawmakers need to take action "now, today," and he was confident that Congress would be able to reach an agreement.

4. They dont even have Workers/UAW representatives on the news.
The whole thing is an absolute mess from Bush's blatant inaction and inability to understand what is going on to, to our press's continued misunderstanding of the crises.

UAW has strong representatives (Im thinking of Trumka) but all our press seems comfortable with are right wing commentators and either Mike Moore or Robert Reich has gone beyond "just being dumb" and now seems like a concerted effort to preserve big capital's ass for their own sake.

I really don't see the focused outrage on places like DU or other lists I'm on either.

This is blatantly an effort to gut the treasury in order to make progressive social goals impossible.There is nothing to suggest otherwise. A manufactured bubble that profits people at the top of our society, and a calculated fallout that sucks up money from the treasury? Im not a 911 conspiracy person, but this reeks of a concerted effort to fuck us.

5. you mistake the "democrats" for Democrats.
The Democratic Party that most of us have supported--the party of FDR, the Kennedys, Johnson, Carter, et al--died in the mid-80's. It was killed in the sam eneocon coup that killed the old moderate Republican Party.

There is ZERO, NONE, NADA, ZIP representation of American families or American workers now. Both parties represent corporations. One is a little nicer than the other, but they serve the same master--extremist capitalism.

Expecting anyone in the US Congress (other than a scant handful of "fringe nutjobs") to stand up for workers is like expecting to open a
box of macaroni and cheese and finding filet mignon instead of salty white and orange goo.
