I think I know where this will go, but I just want to see for sure.

8. O's prose is full of "fluffy nothings"........
...that he seems to think makes him more Murrow-y. This drives me up the wall.

Rachel is fun, slyly smart and not only connects the dots - but convincingly connects to "dots" I hadn't even noticed, yet.

I love it!

11. She's truly a smart reporter and a muckraker,
while being coherent and pleasant.

I like Maddow's show for its levelheadedness. And, for that frequent redheaded guest whom I adore.

Olbermann sometimes overreaches & gets apoplectic over things that aren't very significant, but when he really nails something he's unsurpassed.

14. Rachel
She's so fucking cool and smart. And may I add that she is a femme's dream come true. I'm thinking of sending her a tool belt and asking her to pose in it for me.

Not much else to say. They both own anything the lunatic right can put up, though. Keith I swear is trying to retire Bill O'Reilly. Keep socking it to him, Keith. :D

18. Olberman feels like I'm watching the liberal version of an angry talk radio host.
That's not what I want. Maddow by far.

but Olbermann has a better screen presence.

21. If I have to choose, Maddow, hands down.
I appreciate all that Olbermann has done to bring unpleasantness to light, and I certainly appreciate his role in bringing Ms. Maddow to light.

But Maddow is much more explicitly progressive in her mindset; she is far more likely to bring up such things as labor issues (has Olbermann EVER really done pro-labor segments, beyond the usual "Wal*Mart sucks" stuff?), she's just plain better informed about national security issues, and I think her show makes a much stronger effort to air opposing views.

It's not a knock against Keith to say this; he's a better entertainer, Rachel's a better reporter.

Olbermann's show basically has the same guests every night, all repeating his talking points back to him. Maddow, I liked at first, now she just bores the hell out of me. Rather watch Matthews or Shuster than KO or Maddow.

25. I love them both (kiss, kiss, kiss) but they are covering the same ground.
Now that the election is over, they need to dig up some new material. After we have seen Pat Buchanan on Morning Joe, CNN-at-noon, McLaughlin Group, Road to the White House (or what you call it), Tweety, and Keith, it gets a bit much to see him again on Rachel saying "Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, Socialist, etc" God, please deliver me from him and his ilk.

28. Why does there have to be a preference? They are both good journalists,
they are BOTH working hard to bring TRUTH to light.

They both have a valued place.

These kinds of horseraces are beyond silly, they are harmful.

29. Olbermann by a considerable margin
I appreciate Keith's seriousness more, even though it tends to slop over into fustian; too often, I feel that Rachel is overcompensating for her impressive education with joviality and cutesiness. I especially dislike her frequent descent into Jon Stewart-like casualness ("Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State; change we can believe in, except, maybe... not so much on the changey thing?").
