Edited on Mon Dec-01-08 01:44 AM by SlicerDicer-

Merry Christmas even if early :) Get your lights up or be left in dust ;-)

And Meh with the black friday nonsense we need more Griswold thats all there is too it. If we did that then we would be much happier.

So show your lights!

EDIT: I just had to note

1) I don't usually buy gifts for people. I think its bullshit to encourage rampant consumerism like that
2) I like lights they are pretty
3) Santa is for kids usually so why not make them happier?
4) If you really want to have fun get people Coal. It will be illegal soon according to Republicans so may as well get this "Special Gift" while you can. Not to mention its cheap!
5) Just have fun and crack up about it :)

7. Next year likely.
I keep adding more and more each year. I am up to about 7000 bulbs I think. I want to break 10k by next year.

I want to build a landing strip that blinks in the front yard with deer and sleigh. Make a super bright LED light that is red for Rudolph. Christmas is my favorite time of year just for the lights I love doing it. This is 5 years building worth of lights. I dont buy cheap ones so they last :)

12. bah that is nonsense.
USA power comes from the following

Coal 50% roughly
Nuclear, Hydro and Natural Gas.

Nuclear Fuel comes from USA or Australia usually. Hydro well we are not buying water from Mid East. Natural gas comes from USA and Coal is homegrown as well.

Seriously.

I like Bill Maher and all but thats just brain dead thinking.

His argument is invalid.

Then you can power them up later if needed so that you do not freeze!

So yeah, it can get chilly.

My 1966 Plymouth Fury started after sitting out all night. I had no way to plug it in either.

16. I you use Christmas lights you're an eco-terrorist
because you're using energy that could be saved for something later on down the road. You are also increasing demand which make my electrical rates higher...if it's on public property with public funds paying for the utilities then you are stomping on my constitutional rights not to have to be confronted with Christmas images.

30. First of all, you don't even know what eco-terrorism means
It's the opposite of what you think it means, and even if you were right in its definition you're still more wrong in its application. Between this and your thread, you've got to be in contention for the biggest prat on this site.

24. The lights are my favorite too. I'm not much for the big blow up thingies.
But I love lights. Last year we had just moved into the house.. so, we only had a tree. this year, I'm putting my hubby out on a ladder. AND my 4 yr old loves them.. last year, we'd have to take longer ways back to the house at night to look at all the lights. I love Christmas. I love the corny music. I like that people are generally nicer... especially if you are nice first. I never go out for that Black Friday crap.. It would just ruin the real meaning of celebrating... AND this year with the election and all it feels even better.

29. pet peeve . . . most people who put up Christmas lights have no taste . . .
some of the houses I see just in my local area are atrocities . . . I'm particularly disgusted by those who supplement the lights with these huge inflatable Santas, snowmen, and yes, even baby Jesus' . . .

yesterday a neighbor two doors down spent the better part of the day "decorating" his house . . . much of the time was spent inflating and positioning no less that eight huge balloon-like creatures with a seasonal theme . . . by nightfall his place looked like a whorehouse trying to drum up business during the holiday season . . .

well, it got a little warm and rained last night and, lo and behold, every single one of his inflatables was crumpled into piles of plastic all over his yard . . . I imagine he was pretty depressed when he woke up today -- and I don't give a shit . . . serves him right for buying and displaying that crap in the first place . . .

now the question becomes: will he re-inflate? . . . I'm guessing he will, but we'll wait and see . . .
