I mean if our governor, Ruth-Ann Minner, spent this much time gallivanting across the nation ESPECIALLY now that the elections are all done, we Delawareans (which btw numbers about 200k more than Alaskans) would have her head on the platter.

I mean I realize that part of being a governor is to travel to other states & countries from time to time to help promote the state you're representing. But I seriously don't see this gal doing one thing that is actually a benefit to those who elected her.

1. Gov of Alaska is a part time job (at best)
gives her plenty of time to do other things.

20. sort of true
It certainly is true of members of the state legislature, who by law only meet for 90 days (January to April) and then can and do sometimes meet for limited special sessions. In 2008, the legislature reconvened for two short special sessions, but was still fully adjourned by mid August.

2. Hopefully the people of Alaska will call her on this.
Imagine, the GOP thought this miserable woman was actually qualified to run this country.

If AK is actually a PART-TIME job, what the hell were they thinking?

3. I wish ours would.
Sonny and Saxby are leftovers from the Dukes of Hazzard days and are perpetual embarrassments.

It's really easy to picture them pulling on sheets.

National exposure would help us take these corrupt stereotypes down.

4. A day job? What about a family. I think it's horrible how she neglects her children.

6. She brings her children with her and the people of Alaska pay for it.
She puts them up in five star hotels at $750. a night and charges the State of alaska for it. She says her children are "representatives" of the State..She also charges the State "per diem" for staying in her own home when she is actually in the State. She has not shown her face in the State Capital for months, and hasn't lived in the Governor's Mansion (the people's house) in over a year.

5. the electorate is generally quite tolerant of this sort of thing
Look at how much time various members of the House and Senate stayed away from their "day jobs" while they ran for president.

13. there's kinda an unwritten rule that during the months leading up to the election that this happens
So even with Sarah Palin, I forgave her on that one. But the elections are overwith - go do your damn job, which I believe is more than just pardoning one turkey in front of the rest that are getting slaughtered.

23. That is a bit different since they go into recess
The Governor does not do that. A Governor is supposed to be on the job every day of the year just as the President is. We all know that it doesn't work that way, especially since Bush* took office. He has claimed more time off than any President that went before him..

9. she will be charging the state for her per diem, along with her travel expenses,
and don't forget, since the lower 48 are not as cold as Alaska during the winter, she'll need a whole new wardrobe ... all "expenses" in "doing her job" ...

10. Mitt Romney spent almost no time in MA- not surprising since he hated Mass Liberals
He spent most of his time running for President and avoiding our state like the plague.

11. Palin Hasn't Been To Alaska Juneau Office Since Election
In August when John McCain selected Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to be his running mate, with the exception of Bill Kristol and Fred Barnes who still had pheromone up their nostrils from the lunch they had with Sarah in 2007 when the cruise ship on which they were riding stopped in at Juneau, no one else in the "lower 48" (as those of us in the subarctic call the US of A) had heard of the woman. Ninety days and counting later, Sarah Palin and her celebrity have become as ubiquitous a part of the popular culture as Paris Hilton and Madge Ciccone. ...

It's now been three weeks since the election. And Sarah has yet to set foot in Juneau. Next week she's off to Georgia. And from there up to Philly. By the time she gets back to Alaska the Holiday Season will be full upon her. So it's unlikely that Sarah will spend another night in the Governor's Mansion until the Legislature returns to Juneau in January.

19. as the article indicates, this isn't anything new for her
The only reason to be in Juneau is for the session of the alaska legislature, and the legislature adjourned sine die months ago. Palin has been treating the Governor's mansion as a hotel for her entire term and it doesn't seem to have bothered the alaska voters that much. I doubt her galivanting around the country is going to hurt her that much with alaskans, and as far as I'm concerned, the more people around the country see of her, the more the contrast between her and Obama will be evident.

No worries here.

And also, I am desiring a more prestigious position also, so I need to keep in touch with my non Alaskan, real American base. Also.

16. I could not believe the amount of coverage I saw on CNN this morning
I watch CNN with the sound off while exercising. She is still getting more airtime than Obama, it seems! They spent a second on Obama and Hillary and at least five full minutes on Phailin!

And why would she help? She's a losing candidate, so why is she going to help Chambliss?

And Ruth Ann Minner has been governor for 8 years, and that makes her more qualified than Phailin for whatever! Though we can't see Russia from Delaware.

17. Well we can see New Jersey - perhaps Ruthann will run for governor on NJ
And can you believe all that crap in the News Journal about how we need to change our constitution to 'protect the voters from having a candidate running for 2 offices'.

Seriously - how often is that going to happen in our lifetime and honestly, if we were really that pissed then why did 65% of Delawares vote for Joe Biden when there was another candidate running for senate on the republican side. Oh wait, I know, it's because I'll take whatever Ruth-ann Minner picks for us over that religous nutjob that ran for the republicans. Now some state senator (and democrat) in delaware wants to pass a constititional amendment. I'm so glad our state is in such great shape that we have nothing else better to do then worry about the remote chance that someone could be running for 2 offices again in Delaware

:grr:

22. There are not enough problems in the world for some people
So they have to invent them.

The people should have the choice of keeping Joe in the Senate had he not run for VP. It would have meant he had to give up the seat just to run for VP, and possibly losing and then in no office, not a situation preferred by the people of Delaware. What a dumb idea!

:hi:
