Will Bill Clinton get Hillary's senate seat?
I heard this idea bandied about on CNN this morning. Would that be a good thing?

Well, he is pretty firmly a New Yorker now, huh? And it would keep him

busy in a non-executive position. I wonder if he would like that kind of thing, though? A junior senator vs a boss? I don't doubt that he would be pretty good. I bet he wouldn't want it, but I would love to see him there.

4. Gentry, name recognition, cronyism, nepotism,
haven't we had enough of that shit over the 8 years and the recent spate of cabinet appointments?

5. Even if it were offered, which it won't, I don't think Bill would be interested, anyway.

6. Not a snowball's chance in a self-cleaning oven
There's a very good representative (I forget her name, I am afraid) who is on deck for the seat.

15. Rep. Nydia M. Velazquez is the name I was looking for
She'd be awesome in Hill's old seat.

7. No. And we have plenty of Democrats who can fill that seat thank you very much
Hell we've got actual New Yorkers to fill it. You know people who didn't move to the state so his wife could run for Senate as a springboard for her ambitions to run for President.

Regards

9. nope . . . Paterson would have to bypass too many long-term Democrats . . .
wha have served the state in Congress and elsewhere . . . besides, I doubt that Bill would be interested in being the junior senator from anywhere . . .

10. That wouldn't necessarily be a barrier
There were people who had planned to run for the seat in 2000 who had been pushed aside in favor of the former First Lady.

That notwithstanding even if Clinton wanted the job we have people who can fill the seat. New York isn't so hard up for Democrats that we need to keep dipping into the Clinton trough.

Regards

13. I do not think he could hold it - he would then be in the line of secession to the Presidency
A position he can not hold.

16. He maybe a good choice for the two years until the special election...
Who ever Paterson appoints will have the advantage/disadvantage of being appointed by the Governor for a two year term and then have to run for a two year Senate term, if they chose, and then for a 6 year term at the regular election date.
