Several pols to attend Kennedy ceremony Monday
By Jeremy P. Jacobs, PolitickerMA.com Reporter
U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Hyannis Port)

A host of high profile elected officials, including Vice President-elect Joe Biden, is slated to attend Harvard University's convocation ceremony Monday during which it will bestow an honorary degree on U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy.

Harvard was originally slated to give Kennedy, a Hyannis Port Democrat, an honorary degree during its graduation ceremonies last June but that was delayed when Kennedy suffered a malignant brain tumor. The university decided to hold a ceremony on Monday solely to honor Kennedy.

According to a release from U.S. Sen. John Kerry's office, the following officials are scheduled to attend the convocation:

* U.S. Sen. Edward Kennedy, Vicki Kennedy and family
* U.S. Sen. John Kerry (D-Boston) and Teresa Heinz
* Kerry Vice-President Elect Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and Dr. Jill Biden
* U.S. Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.) and Jackie Clegg Dodd
* U.S. Sen. John Culver (D-Iowa) and Mary Jane Checchi
* Congressman Edward Markey (D-Malden) and Susan Blumenthal
* Congressman William Delahunt (D-Quincy)
* Congresswoman Niki Tsongas (D-Lowell)

1. He deserves this. I am glad he seems well enough to do things like
this right now. Glad Biden will be there to honor him.
