Bush wants to be liked for "having actually done something that's measurable"

"Everybody wants to be liked," Bush said at Monday's forum when influential pastor Rick Warren chatted with him about the AIDS effort. "But being liked because you've actually done something constructive that's measurable is the best way to try to be liked."

1. Too bad they never bothered to count the Iraqis.
That was a much more impressive number.

At least not without lying.

Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price--we think the price is worth it.

Note that the "price"-- 560,000 dead Iraqi children and by most estimates as many adults, nearly a million Iraqi civilians-- was "worth it" in 1997. The question today is whether or not Dubya managed to out kill the Big Dawg in Iraq. It's a close call. Bill might still be the champ.

That's one way to measure him, and I bet it's a damned impressive number.

9. He exceeded the "measurable" limits
of total incompetent assholishness years ago. He is now in Terra Incognita when it comes to measurements.

THAT would be a measurable benefit to 300 million Americans--not to mention the rest of the world.
