This is in reference to marmar's post about the Bushies referencing "Chuck and Larry" to defend denying gay domestic partner benefits:

So, they'll need some help coming up with new ways to use movies to defend their policies. Let's give them that help.

"Planet of the Apes" is obviously an argument against protecting animal species. You never know which one might take over the earth!
